"Theres family and then there are relatives. Family are those you're close to. Relatives are those you want to stay relatively far away." - Unknown
1. The One That Touches You Too Much

Maybe this is an aunt who pinches your cheeks or an uncle who always tussles your hair. Whoever they may be, we’ve all got a family member who is just a little too hands-on when it comes to greeting family that they haven’t seen in a while.
2. The One That Always Asks About Your Love Life

This is the person who makes you dread going to family functions. As much as you may try to avoid it, you know that at some point during any family or holiday function you’re going to have to explain your relationship status. If you're single, they want to know why. If you're dating someone, they want to know how it's going. And if you've been dating someone for a while, or they're at the function with you, they want to know when the wedding is... Yikes!
3. The One Who Always Makes Too Many Jokes
We’ve all got the funny uncle or cousin who loooooves to make the family chuckle. Whether they’re cheesy jokes, or dad jokes or just terribly constructed jokes, they’ll be flying from when the turkey goes in the oven until there are just bones giblets left!
4. The One Who Thinks They're Funny but is Actually a Little Mean
There's also another type of funny guy at the holidays. Some people have a different sense of humor and some people take it a little too far. Everyone gets a little more sensitive around the holidays and sometimes the person picking on your haircut or your new outfit is not who you wanna spend too much time with. Then you just end up questioning all your decisions and possibly eating your sorrows away.5. One Who Tells You the Same 5 Stories Every Holiday
Storytellers are my personal favorite type of holiday-goers. They’re usually the older people in the family and just want to share their wisdom and experience with all the younger generations. Even if they might’ve shared the same experience more times than you can count!
6. The One Who Always Gets a Liiiiiiiittle Too Drunk

This is the family member who is the life of every event, whether its 4th of July or just another Family Reunion. They've got the party stocked with drinks and are ready to have a true holiday CELEBRATION!
7. The One Who is the Free Family Babysitter

There's always one mid-teen/early adult that ends up watching everyone's children so that the adults can socialize and eat and relax. Nine times out of ten, this person absolutely loves kids until they have four kids trying to play hide & seek, two kids crying and three kids trying to go eat random food. Imagine if holiday nannies were a thing.... You'd make a fortune doing what some poor kiddo does every single holiday for free!!
8. The One Who Over Stresses and Over Plans Everything

Yes, the holidays can be a stressful time, but we all know that one family member, usually mom or whoever is cooking, that just loses all sanity when family comes to visit. The floors have to be spit-shined, the pillows have to be fluffed and if we don't use the good silverware, all hell might just break loose. Always remember to give this one an extra hug or two, they'll need it!
9. The One Who Doesn't Really Say Much

Sometimes there's a family member, maybe someone who doesn't come around much, or someone who just married into the family, that doesn't really do or say much at family gatherings. They try to stay out of the way and just be present and smiling. They may be more awkward in some families than others, but I think we can all agree that it's hard to use those generic conversation starters with someone who never talks!
10. The One Who Eats Everything

Every holiday, there are appetizers for before the food comes out and tons of leftovers afterward. And there is always one person who eats both. They pick and pick any and all food because let's be honest, calories don't count for as much during the holidays!!
11. The One Who Likes to Bring up Awkward Stories and Personal Stuff

Sometimes, we do things in life that we don't want our whole family to be talking about. But without fail, there will always be someone who will bring an awkward situation back up or bring a secret to light that you thought you'd never have to explain to your extended family.
