You know those resolutions for the coming year that you make every year and then don't actually do? Yeah, you're not the only one. This year I'm making more practical resolutions because year after year I make the same ones and don't get anything out of it. Let's face it -- "New year, new me" is not a real thing. When will we realize that these resolutions are dumb?
1. Be healthy.
First of all, this is so broad that no one even knows what it means. Of course, two days into the new year you're going to want to eat 10 cookies and watch TV all day. You can't just go from couch potato to fitspiration in two days. Not gonna happen.
2. Save your money.
Do you realize how many semi-annual sales are happening at the time you're making this resolution? Yeah, good luck with that.
3. Stop talking to your ex.
Yes, after the past five years that you "stopped talking to him" this is your time to shine. Let me know how that works out.
4. Study more.
You'll find some reason to have less motivation to study now than you did last semester. Remember, Cs get degrees; better luck next year.
5. Make your bed every day.
After one day you'll realize how much harder that is than it sounds.
6. Binge watch TV less.
But then you just have to see what happens next on "Grey's Anatomy"; you can't stop watching now! Even though you've seen every season three times.
7. Stop procrastinating.
8. Never skip class.
You just wait until it's 9 a.m. on Friday morning after a social and let me know how that goes.
9. Be productive on Saturdays.
This isn't even a real thing. Saturdays are meant for Dhall brunch at noon and staying in bed. Unless the weather's nice.
10. Be a better person.
All I have to say is new year, same me.
Here's what you should do. Make a resolution to be happy. Instead of focusing on all the things you should do because that's what everyone else is saying we should do, do it for yourself. Whether it's joining a gym, watching less TV, saying fewer sarcastic comments, or just taking a few minutes for yourself every day, make it a goal to be a happier person. Not for anybody else, but for yourself.
