Video games are a staple in my everyday life. I currently own almost every modern gaming system there is in existence. Video games, depending who created it, may be released on multiple consoles or on a single console or set of consoles depending if it is licensed to Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo. One of the several benefits of owning the most recent game consoles from all three of the major names is having little to no limitations as to which games you can buy for yourself to play. These are the top three games that are my primary focuses right now.
1. Assassin's Creed Origins.
Xbox One and PlayStation 4
Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed series had been struggling for a while with more recent titles not as popular as they had hoped. Many fans, including myself, genuinely enjoyed the first two or three games in the series when controls were more simple, and there was no ship navigation involved.
This latest game takes you back to the very beginnings in Egypt, before the Brotherhood being established. I have not gotten too far in the storyline just yet, but I am very excited for what it will have in store. Plus, every time you replay the game, it will not be the same. How is that for replayability?
2. Super Mario Odyssey.
Nintendo Switch
Super Mario Odyssey is hands down one of the, if not the most popular titles for the Nintendo Switch to date. There were a few other decent titles such as Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, which was one of the select titles available when the Switch first launched, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which had expanded on Mario Kart 8 for the Nintendo Wii U. Mario is no stranger to Role-Playing Games, having been exploring that genre since Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars back on the Super Nintendo.
Once again, Princess Peach has been captured by Bowser and Mario has to locate and rescue the princess. Early on, Mario befriends a new companion who decided to call himself Cappy. Mario can use Cappy to 'capture' things such as chain chomps and frogs to overcome obstacles and progress through the game. I have not made a lot of progress in this game as well, but eventually, I will finish this game.
3. South Park The Fractured But Whole.
PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
The Fractured But Whole is another popular Ubisoft sequel. Following the prequel The Stick of Truth back in 2014, South Park fans like myself were anxiously awaiting the release of the sequel. Depending on where you buy the game, you may also get a download for the prequel as well as a download code for Towelie, who will appear periodically throughout the game with helpful tips and tricks. Taking place days after the events of The Stick of Truth, the children in this quiet little mountain town give up their fantasy role-playing game to instead become superheroes and create a superhero media franchise. This game has taken up the most of my free time to date. If you enjoyed the Stick of Truth, what are you waiting for then? Go pick up the sequel aleready!
