I am a documentary addict. I have watched more documentaries on Netflix than I can count. Thankfully, I have made my way through the good, the bad, the weird and the most fascinating documentaries so I can put together a list of recommendations of what I find to be the most worthwhile documentaries on Netflix!
1. "Blackfish"
"Blackfish" is an incredibly, heart wrenching documentary about the killer whales at SeaWorld. Be prepared for an eye-opening experience into one of the world's most beautiful animals.
2. "Finders Keepers"
"Finders Keepers" is a hilarious, eccentric documentary about a small town and a leg. You will not be deprived of laughs and wonder while watching this documentary.
3. "Soaked in Bleach"
"Soaked in Bleach" examines the death of Kurt Cobain, presenting his death as homicide rather than suicide. Even if you finish the documentary unconvinced that Cobain's death was a homicide, the documentary is still provides and interesting look into Kurt Cobain's last few days.
4. "Maidentrip"
If there is anything that will make you want to quit work or school to travel this is what will do it. "Maidentrip" follows the voyage of a 14 year old Dutch girl who sails around the world. Her adventurous spirit will amaze you!
5. "The Hunting Ground"
"The Hunting Ground" focuses on a very important issue: sexual assault in colleges across the nation. This documentary provides a critical look at the way colleges handle sexual assault. Whether or not you are in college, this documentary is a must see.
6. "30 for 30: The Price of Gold"
"30 for 30: The Price of Gold" tells the story of Tanya Harding, Nancy Kerrigan and the murky circumstances that surround one of the most dramatic moments in Olympic Figure Skating. This documentary goes to show that some people will stop at nothing to win that gold medal.
7. "Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father"
"Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father" is an emotional, heart-wrenching documentary. This tragic documentary proves that love always can win against the evil in this world.
8. "Killer Legends"
"Killer Legends" examines the real life murders that sparked murderous legends such as "The Candyman" and and "The Hookman".
9. "Touching the Void"
"Touching the Void" is an amazing tale of human survival on the Andes mountains in some of the toughest conditions known to man. This documentary will leave you on the edge of your seat the entire time.
10. "Documentary Now!"
Okay, so this isn't actually a documentary, but if documentaries really aren't your thing this hilarious comedy series starring Fred Armisen and Bill Hader will be sure to have you cracking up.
