Freshman year has finally come to an end, and we survived two semesters of finals and dorm rooms. Now we've all found our apartments and have ditched our meal plans, but there will always be a small part of freshman year that we will miss. Here are a few things that will be hard to say goodbye to as we become Sophomores.
Our meal plan
Nothing was easier than 'Tapingo-ing' a meal from your room or on your way to class so you can easily pick your food up. In years to come we're actually going to have to get up and cook food in a real kitchen.
Being so close to campus
Living in the dorms meant only having to walk across the street to class. Now, we all have to drive to the Lloyd Noble Center and then take the bus to class. But hey, less walking.
1000 Level Classes
Yay, the end of freshman year means we're getting past our basic education requirements aka easy classes. Now onto harder classes that still don't have anything to do with our intended major.
A Clean Bathroom
Living in the dorms, or in Cate at least, meant not having to clean your own bathroom. Every morning we were greeted with new rolls of toilet paper and a clean shower. Now we're going to have to take those responsibilities into our own hands.
The Huff
Even if we never used it, we were always a few feet away from it. And even though most of the off campus apartments have an exercise room, they're not going to be as big or as fun as the Huff.
Free Things on Campus
Although the free events and giveaways that happen on campus are available to any student, most of the upperclassmen that live off campus aren't going to get up on the weekend to go get a free Kind bar on the South Oval. The freshmen have the luxury of only having to walk out of their dorm.
The Dorms
Although I complained about them most of the year, they're truly a great thing to experience as a freshman. You're in a hallway with people going through the exact same thing, you're provided a great RA who has been through it before to guide you, and you're placed on campus so you can learn the ins and outs of the University.
We're finally out of freshman year. We're no longer dorm-dwellers. We're no longer at the very bottom of the totem pole. And although most of us won't be in the dorms anymore, we'll always miss this style of housing and our meal plan. When we make freshman friends we're going to hound them for their extra meal exchanges and points. However, we won't miss 2 am fire drills or elevators that are always broken. Peace out freshman year.
