To The Teachers Who Inspired Me

Because you don't hear thank you enough.

To The Teachers Who Inspired Me

Everyone has at least one teacher who inspired them to be the best that they could be, whether that was in elementary school, high school or even college. I have been lucky enough to have not just one, but many teachers who have inspired me all the way through my years of education. Even though teaching is not the career path I think that I will take, it is one that I admire and respect very much. It takes dedication to get up every morning and go teach students, many of whom would rather be anywhere but your classroom. I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you to all of those amazing teachers out there.

Thank you for always going the extra mile. I know that there are some teachers who don’t, who put in “just enough” time and then move on with their day, but to the ones who put in all of that extra time–thank you. I know that you probably feel it goes unnoticed, and to a lot of kids it might, but there will always be the few that do notice. When you give us extra pointers or decorate the classroom for holidays or get to school early so that we can try and figure out that math problem, it truly means the world to us.

Thank you for showing that you care. Thanks for really listening to our problems and trying to help us, your students, work through them. This is really a big thank you for high school teachers. I don’t know how many times or how many different teachers my classmates or I ranted to in high school about all of our life problems. I know that in the grand scheme of things, our high school problems aren’t that big, but the fact that you sit there and listen and care means more than you could ever know.

Thank you for believing in your students, especially when they don’t believe in themselves. There were so many times in elementary school and high school that I did not think I was smart enough or capable enough to grasp a concept, but I always had a teacher who believed I could. That belief is the thing that continuously inspired me to try again and eventually grasp whatever it is I was struggling with.

Thank you for choosing to be a teacher. I know that it is not the highest-paying job and, more than likely, you could have done something else with your talents where you would make more money and get more respect, but you chose to teach. And because you chose to teach, I and so many around me fell in love with learning. It is because of the teachers like you that students go on to become doctors, nurses, lawyers, accountants and even teachers. You inspire us from the beginning, and that is worth so much more than could ever be put into words. Your love and dedication for your job always shines through and that pushes us to be the best we people we can be.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
