While we pride ourselves in surviving frigid upstate winters as friends from high school lie on the beach at southern schools, enough is enough when you come back from Spring Break to snow showers. I get it, you're going to the beach after class. I'm also going somewhere after class...I'm just going to my room to watch Netflix and hide from the cold. Don't hate. I'm making do with what I was given.
Here are six thoughts you likely experienced last week while being disoriented from Mother Nature's very un-welcomed surprise:
1. Why did I bring back my short sleeves?
I'm never going to need them. I bet I'll be wishing I had them at Spring Fling. Who knows with this weather? It's super unpredictable.
2. Where did all the people go?
It seems like just yesterday everyone was out on the spine wearing shorts and playing music. When it's warm outside, people come out of nowhere and when it's cold, they all disappear. Who knew that so many kids went here? These same individuals come out during Finals Week when you can't find a single unoccupied spot in the library.
3. Why do I have three exams this week? Don't professors know that I need time to ease back into the semester?
It's apparent that professors in the same department don't try to avoid giving tests at the exact same time. It's too much for us college students to handle! And no, I did not study over spring break. Who does?
4. Shoot, I brought my down coat and snow boots home over break.
I really can't make my own decisions anymore. Usually bringing your winter closes home over Spring Break is a good idea. Not this year. What else should I be questioning?
5. Why can't it be nice outside?
It was in the 70s two weeks ago...Make a decision, Mother Earth! Did I come back from Winter Break or Spring break? I can't tell because there is snow on the ground and it's April. I don't remember it being like this last year.
6. Now that the first week back is over with, things are leveling out a little bit.
If you're able to read this, you made it through. College is a cycle filled with tests and free time. You think you have a week or two to prepare for the next wave and then before you know it, it's here. So much for that down time... Buckle up. It'll be one hell of a ride.
Before you know it, it will be time to go home for summer break. Hopefully it's not snowing then too. You never know though, Mother Nature might have other ideas. Time will tell. In the meantime, hope for the best. With this variation, it could be in the 70s next week.
