Netflix oh Netflix, you are too good with your ways. You reel us in with your pretty colors and catchy titles, making us feel more welcome than we ever thought possible.
Five hours and six episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" later, the love is still strong. You've lured us in, welcomed us with open arms, and gave us something other than piles of homework to do. How can you be so selfless and loving? What has made us fall so deeply in love with you?
1. It begins with finding something to watch.
Lucky for us, you have movies and shows broken up into categories of our favorite genres. If we have visited you before, you have so kindly remembered as you place frequently watched items at the top of our list followed by titles that are similar to what we have already viewed. With all of the options, you think it would be difficult to make a decision. We know that you aren't going anywhere though, so we're not worried about making a wrong movie/TV series choice because we can always watch another option some time soon.
2. Then you start liking what you're watching, like really liking.
Like this show is so freaking good I have no idea what I have been doing with my life. I mean, the main character is flawless, her lover is even more flawless, and there are guns and mysteries and romance and surgery and I just love it!
3. Then you fall in love with what you're watching.
You feel what the characters feel. You cry when they cry. You laugh when they laugh. You're happy when they're happy. You almost feel like you're betraying them and your connected lives when you leave them for a short moment to retrieve your delivered Jimmy John's.
4. Now your social life is over, you haven't left bed in six hours except to pee and get food, and you don't see yourself changing this situation anytime soon.
And you're perfectly fine with it. This fantasy Netflix world with secret names and tunnels and sex scandals is much better than the real world anyway.
5. The show tragically ends, real life catches up with you... or you shamefully fall asleep.
All very sad things, even though you unfortunately realize that real life is probably better than hiding behind the veil of Netflix. You know it's always there for you, which is comforting, but even the best relationships have needed to take a couple breaks here and there. Fortunately for the two of you, you know that it will only be a very short amount of time until you give in to the sweetness and open arms of all that is Netflix.
