“Embrace the current season of your life.” - Gabrielle Blair
We all go through different seasons of life. Some seasons are better than others and some last longer than we would like or are too short to enjoy. Nevertheless, we must all go through seasons, just as the seasons of the year must change in order for us to progress through it. In college, we not only go through each season, but we go through them multiple times with varying levels of intensity. Understanding the differences between the seasons of life helps us to learn how to live through and even enjoy them all, including the more difficult seasons.
The first season we encounter in anything is spring. In the real world, spring is the beginning of the year and the breath of life back into nature. In regards to seasons of life, spring is the season of fresh starts, new life, and happiness. This season is marked with birth, marriage, new jobs, new homes, celebrations, forgiveness, and encouragement.
Everyone loves fresh starts! Fresh starts are a symbol that we don’t have to worry about what has happened in the past because this is the beginning of everything new. It is our launch pad into the unknown which lies ahead of us. Fresh starts, such as a new job/promotion, embolden and assure us that we are good enough.
New life is a joy and blessing that everyone celebrates at least once in their lives. New life not only brings something into existence that was not here before, but it also brings new opportunities and challenges to face. When a child is born they bring uncontainable happiness to their parents. Along with that happiness comes new responsibilities and life experiences.
One can find joy in every season of life, however, spring is the season in which happiness is effortlessly accessible. When we are constantly refreshed and renewed, it is easy to find happiness in situations you wouldn’t normally find it in. Happiness can be found in anything from a cloud in the sky to a proposal of marriage from the person you love. Happiness is based upon things in your life going right and you benefiting from it.
Just as a tree changes its leaves,
we also must change seasons. We cannot stay continually in the springtime, we
must also experience summer and autumn and winter. We cannot fully grow and
experience life to its fullest potential without seeing it from every angle. We can never know what season we will encounter next in our lives, we can only hope for the best and live through the reality of life as we pass through it.
