Thanks For Everything, Roomies!

Thanks For Everything, Roomies!

Our roommates are truly special people. Living with us can be difficult at times, but they handle it well. Depending on the situation, our roommates have to transition into different roles, and it’s pretty impressive just how many different roles they can play in our lives. Thanks for everything you do for us roomies. You truly are the best! Here are the seven roles our roommates play perfectly:

1. The Mom: Sometimes we have to depend on our roommates just a little too much. They turn into our second moms, making sure we’re taken care of and helping us to function as sort of adults. They teach you how to cook, how to separate your laundry and make sure you take a jacket to class when they insist it’s chilly outside. They bring you your lunch when you forget it at home, and remind you where your keys are when you can’t find them. They also take care of you when you start to feel slightly under the weather.

2. The cheerleader: Your roommates are here to cheer you on through everything. Whether it’s a test you’re anxious about or a job interview, you know you can count on them for endless amounts of encouragement. They’re here to celebrate your successes, no matter the size. They send you positive texts like “you can do it!” and “you’re going to rock this!” that make your whole day.

3. The therapist: No matter how trivial your problem is, your roommates are all ears. They have the Kleenex box ready and give you the perfect advice about where to go from here. They dissect every text with you and help you make decisions that seem a little too big to face on your own. They listen without judgment and hold your hand through anything and everything.

4. The motivator: Your roommates are the Shia Labeouf's of your life. They motivate you to study hard and sometimes even stop socializing with you until you finish your work. They nag you when it’s necessary because they know you sometimes need a little push to start getting stuff done.

5. The stylist: "What Not to Wear" becomes real when you struggle to put the perfect outfit together for an important event.Your roommates insist on a fashion show and help you pick out the best outfit and the perfect shoes. They’re also there to make you feel like a princess when they do your hair and makeup when you’re struggling to do it yourself.

6. The movie/show-binger: There’s no one better to watch movies or tv shows with than your roommates. They’ll argue with you over who is the best character, and make you feel better when they don’t understand what just happened in the movie either. They’re up for hibernating with you and spending a lazy Sunday watching four rom-coms in a row rather than being productive.

7. The best friend: Sometimes you’re lucky enough to have roommates that double as your best friends. They’re here for you when you’re laughing, crying, dancing, and stressing. The make everything more fun and your day feels off when you don’t talk to them. The best 2am conversations happen when you’re all snuggled in the same bed and they lift you up when your day turns from bad to worse. They make your college experience truly unforgettable and you wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
