The Secret Life Of A Goofball

If sometimes you get a little too excited and laugh a little too loud, you might be a goofball.

If sometimes your dance moves aren't always on point, or you'll say good morning to someone when it's 8pm, you could be a bit of a goober.

If sometimes carpet feels like a banana peel, and you are always more hyper than everyone else, you may be known as silly.

And if maybe you're a goofball, your tongue may or not be out of your mouth when taking photos... because just a smile is boring!

When maybe you're being silly all the time your voice may crack or falter from the many impressions that you do.

And then, you are a pro at doing funny faces in Snapchat.

But that's you, the lovable goofball!

People may not always understand your weirdness, the but the right ones will.

It's a fun life, being a goofball. It makes the hardest moments of your life more tolerable because you'll always have your silly sense of humor to make everything not as bad.

You smile brighter and people always get a kick out of you, because you are that light in a shroud of seeming uniformity to make them laugh.

You are the wild card, the one always thinking outside the box and doing things with no shame. You give as much love as it's received because life is too short to project negativity. You just want to live life to the fullest and enjoy every moment of it, good or bad. That's what I've tried to do and have been my whole life: being the lovable goober!

People will always ask me what I'm talking about and tell me that I talk too fast. They ask me to just smile in pictures more because sticking out your tongue is weird. They look at me like I have three heads when I flail my arms and jump all over the place in excitement. They laugh at my facial expressions because my face reacts quite visibly...to everything.

I have, in fact, slipped on a banana peel and tripped when there was nothing for to trip on. I am a goofball.

Saying "awkward turtle" and doing the hand motion to go with it is a typical occurrence for me. I am a goofball.

And it's not uncommon for me to say "Good afternoon!" to someone at 10 a.m. I am a goofball.

I may have taken years of dance classes and am pretty decent at it, but sometimes I stop caring and the robot becomes my go-to move. I am a goofball.

And being called a "weirdo" will always be a compliment to me.

I will forever stutter or make a bad joke at some point during each day, but that's me. My silliness makes people wonder how I when through everything that I did. They expect me to be more negative and to not shy from "normal" behavior, but that's not fun. Being ordinary is not extraordinary and you need to be your wonderfully unique self.

That's what I am.

I can be both serious and silly, which I think is a vital balance for everyone to have. You gotta let yourself be a bit odd and not care what people think because life is too short to care about anyone else's opinions on who you are because you know who you are. And you are awesome...and I'm awesome, so let's be goofy, together and take on life's hardships like a champ. I believe in you, never stop being silly.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
