Happy Spring Break.
The time of the year where college students swarm the beaches and raise hell is officially here! No matter what party town you're in, you're going to find yourself passing a tattoo parlor. While drunk you, or even sober you, thinks it's a great and spontaneous time to get tatted up, is it really? Do you really want that something on you forever?
Now let me just say, I am NOT against tattoos at all.
I know I will absolutely be getting a tattoo someday. I've been close to getting one before; even walked into a shop, looked at designs, discussed prices, and probably would have given in if I had the money. But a little voice in my head was reminding me of something someone said to me once,
"Got an idea of a tattoo you really want to get? Think about it for a year and if you still want it, get it."
During a time when all of the people around me were getting tattoos, it sounded ridiculous to me. But it makes sense. People change. Interests change. Morals change. When I was 18 and ready to get my first tattoo, I wanted to get a bible verse written on the side of my left rib. That was at a time where I was attending church and bible studies every week. 2 years later, I haven't gone to church or read a bible in months. There's no reason as to why, it's just something I'm not as passionate about anymore. If I had gotten it, I'm sure it would look great, but I would kind of just be bummed to always have that on me to remind me of the person I'm not anymore.
However, by all means, if you're someone who wants to enjoys tattoos to express yourself at certain stages of your life, do it. I applaud you for being so brave.
So before you tat yourself up with the Spider Man logo or "daddy's girl," ask yourself if it's something you could wait a year getting. Henna is always an option! #noragrets
