When we plop down on the couch and turn on the TV, hoping to find something good, there are a few classics that we’re content with every time. Whether home for the weekend with a rare lazy Saturday or spending a night in to relax, sometimes Netflix gets a break in favor of cable. When it comes to movies, cable networks have a habit of always airing the same movies they’ve been showing for years. While at times this can be annoying, some of these films deserve that repeated screen time. So, this article is an ode to The Rewatchables, those beautiful gems in cinema that made it to a regular spot on the cable recycling feed.

Hitch

I know this is technically a chick flick, but I have yet to meet a guy who dislikes this movie. Everyone loves Will Smith, and who doesn’t want to see their favorite actor play a smooth talking love doctor? This movie iconized the song Yeah! and brought back nerdy dancing.

How To Lose a Guy in Ten Days

Girls love this movie because it is so classic a chick flick that we can’t resist and has Matthew McConaughey (who, fun fact, is a Delt). Guys love watching this so they can have a laugh and bond over all the crazy girls they’ve dealt with in the past. And who doesn’t want to grab a deck of cards and play a few rounds of Bull S*** after watching this movie? Sidenote—decent soundtrack.

Elf

Obviously a Christmas classic, Elf is playing nonstop during the holiday season. Will Ferrell running around in yellow tights singing has yet to get old. Between his questionable eating choices, mad awesome dance party in the mail room, and snow ball skills, Buddy the Elf has my couch-locked attention any cold Saturday afternoon.

She’s the Man

Besides the fact that this movie is actually hysterical, seeing Amanda Bynes back in her quirky, America’s sweetheart prime is always enjoyable. Between the cool soccer moves, cross-dressing catastrophes and Eunice, it is hard to not get stuck watching this movie if it’s on.

Finding Nemo/ Toy Story/ The Incredibles

Honestly, any Pixar movie can be watched multiple times. Those people know how to make top-notch films that pull off a surprisingly large amount of dry humor for kid’s movies and characters with enough depth to pull the viewer in.

Harry Potter weekend

Thank you, ABC Family, for the best gift you could have given a generation raised on these books. The Harry Potter story is near and dear to so many hearts, and the opportunity to watch it over again on every holiday is the best excuse to spend three days straight on the couch.

While this list may vary from person to person, The Rewatchables deserve proper recognition for earning a regular-spot-on-cable kind of love from their viewers.
