Spring break is officially here. For most people, that means seven plus days of partying on a beach and getting a wicked tan. But for the rest of us, it means going back home and pretty much doing nothing. If you fall into the "going back home" category, you're probably wondering what you'll do to amuse yourself for a week. Don’t worry though, here’s a list of dope activities and fun things to do so you don’t get too depressed watching everyone’s snap stories of them "dartying" non-stop in Puerto Vallarta.
1. Read A Book
Ayyyy lmao I hope y'all didn’t think that this was going to be a list giving you tips on how to get wrecked in your hometown more efficiently. This is a responsible list on how to use the time wisely and take advantage of your week off from classes.
Yeah, so pick up a book and further your understanding of the human condition and the world around you.
2. Volunteer
There’s definitely a ton of good places in your town where you can put some time into bettering your community. Since you’re not going to be staying up late or anything like that you might as well wake up bright and early and paint houses or something. Probably need some service hours for a something anyway.
3. Catch up on school work
Log on to Canvas and see what’s coming up on your assignments list. Use your free time to put yourself ahead of the game so you can chill when you get back to classes the next week. All the kids who went to Mexico will be so jealous of you academic initiative!I know this list kinda blows. I don't really want to be doing any of these things either. I mean I like to read and stuff, but I can read anywhere. I'd rather be in Cabo wearing a sombrero while double fisting taquitos and watching the sunset over the Pacific Ocean. But unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. However, I have learned something from my first college spring break and it hasn’t even happened yet.
What I’ve learned is that time moves really fast. I mean, how is it already spring break? October was yesterday. Yesterday I was literally carving a pumpkin watching the Bears lose. Now, it’s the middle of March. Soon it will be April, and then it will be summer. I’ll blink and it will be June. So I really shouldn’t feel too bad about spring break because it will go by so fast and after a few weeks no one will care. That’s why I encourage you to try and spend your time bettering yourself, growing as a person, and as a member of your community. That’s what I’m going to try to do. And if we all try maybe we can make life easier for all of us.
