The best part of coming back to the school after a long break is the first week of classes. This week is absolutely no joke. It's Syllabus Week. It's by far one of the best weeks of the entire academic school year. Hopefully, if you're lucky, you won't have any assignments due or any hard work to accomplish the first week back. However, if you do, it's almost always bearable, and you will be able to conquer and finish it quickly. The rest is history.
This week greatly tests your multi-tasking skills, planning skills, as well as your recklessness skills. There are many pros and cons that come out of this week.
Hopefully, all college students can relate to these realities that we all face during syllabus week.
The Reunion.
Going grocery shopping and being reminded of how poor you are.
Actually having to use an alarm to wake up.
Observing your new professors and determining whether or not to switch into a new class.
Glancing at the syllabus and thinking that it's going to be an easy class.
When the professor says that attendance isn't mandatory.
Calculating how expensive your textbooks are going to be for the semester.
Telling yourself you're going to work harder than ever before this semester.
Your parents call and tell you that they believe in you.
When you receive a text about the first party of the semester.
And sooner rather than later you realize there's a party every single night of the week.
Focusing in your 8 a.m. class the morning after is a bit of a challenge.
And the professor has already assigned homework, even though it's only the second day of classes.
You try and tell yourself that you can handle another night out.
And then like magic, it's Sunday. Somehow, you survived the week.
Finally, later that day, you receive a call from your parents asking how your first week went.
Good luck to all the college students who are about to take on syllabus week. Enjoy this time, as it only comes twice a year. Just remember that you're in college to get an education, so don't mess it up entirely. Set the right tone for the semester, and you'll be just alright with good times, good vibes, and good grades.
