The first week of a new semester brings both excitement and dread. We see our friends who we have not seen during the break, and we resume our college life schedule. You can feel the energy on campus, from lively welcome back events to the new influx of students. But, all college students understand that the first week of the semester also means syllabus week. The week where you meet your new professors, buy the textbooks, and realize the workload ahead for you.

1. Forcing oneself to readjust their sleeping schedule. As much as you love your Netflix marathons till 4 AM, it will become impossible with assignments.

2. You will walk into the classroom praying you will see a familiar face. Even if it the person who sat three rows behind you last semester in your philosophy class.

3. The struggle is real when you are deciding where to sit. If you sit in the front, you will be the kid who takes good notes and the professor will recognize you. The downside to that, whenever you have an off day, the professor will notice. While, if you decide to sit in the back, the temptation of watching Netflix or surfing Tumblr may win.

4. When your professor hands out the syllabus and you see the grading rubric. You realize they count the final exam as 50 percent of your grade.

5. You look at the assignments and slowly begin to accept that you no longer have a social life. Due to the fact that you have quizzes every class or a 20-page paper due once a month.

6. Excitement fills your soul when the professor says they will take extra credit.

7. The excitement suddenly disappears when you see that books are required, and you have to buy them.

8. It physically hurts you when you hand the cashier at the bookstore all your money for books, that we all know you are not going to be able to sell back.

9. You sit in your bed and start to wallow in pity, missing the times when you were in high school. When the books were free and the workload was significantly less.

10. A friend invites you to a fun welcome back event being held on campus and realize that despite the work. You love the freedom and possibilities that come with being a college student.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
