The Purpose of Delta Delta Delta is near and dear to the hearts of all of her members for all of their days.
This is what our Purpose means to me.
To establish a perpetual bond of friendship among its members
Tri Delta is my home away from home. During recruitment, people always ask: Why are you going Greek? My answer always included that I wanted to become friends with people who I might not otherwise be friends with. I got my wish. I now have a network of sisters (many from my own chapter, but a fair few outside of it) who I know have my back for life. Through all of life's ups and downs, I know that my sisters will forever remain some of my dearest and best friends.
To develop a stronger and more womanly character
Since I accepted my bid, Tri Delta has helped me to grow so much. I have truly grown stronger in myself. I have grown by promoting positivity through my work with Body Image 3D (a Tri Delta initiative promoting healthy mind, body and spirit); I have grown as a collegiate member with the help of my sisters, who catch me and keep me grounded. I can truly say that Tri Delta has bettered me, and continues to make me better every day.
To broaden the moral and intellectual life
My sisters make me a better me. We hold each other accountable for things; we talk deeply together about things that are important. My sisters have helped me learn to pick my battles, to throw kindness around like confetti, and to be the best version of myself possible at all times.
At the end of the day, we are all at college for the same thing: to get an education. My sisters understand this, and we are each other's biggest cheerleaders and support system in the academic aspect of college life. Through late-night study sessions and early-morning cramming (hey, it happens), we stick by each other's sides in order to ensure that we all remain academically successful.
To assist its members in every possible way
As I have mentioned before, I know without a doubt that my sisters have my back. Whether they are current members of my own chapter, sisters at a chapter halfway across the continent, alumnae, sisters at EO, my sisters are always here for me, and I couldn't get along without them now. Tri Delta has multiple resources for its members -- including scholarships and emergency funds for collegiates and alumni.
To promote and develop mutually beneficial relationships between the Fraternity and the colleges and universities where the Fraternity has established chapters
Tri Delta members strive to maintain beneficial relationships between their chapter and their campus. It's like a mutualistic relationship. EO encourages members to host events to help strengthen these relationships, such as Apple Polishing (an appreciation party for staff members).
To develop qualities of unselfish leadership among its members
Tri Delta teaches members how to lead unselfishly. All of my sisters are multifaceted leaders. Many of them hold leadership positions in other campus organizations, and they all lead within the chapter. Officer positions or places on committees can help members to hone leadership skills that prove to be extremely beneficial. I think that we all find that our time in Tri Delta has seen us become better leaders, who lead for the right reasons.
To encourage them to assume, with integrity and devotion to moral and democratic principles, the highest responsibilities of college women
My sisters are without a doubt the best people that I know. If I was asked to describe the "ideal" college woman, my sisters would be the women I looked to as examples. My sisters are smart, kind, and heavily involved in our community; whether it be through athletics, academic honor societies, theatre/dance companies, or student organizations, my sisters are always reppin' out on campus.
I am so very proud to call myself a Tri Delta and to live our Purpose each and every day.
