The Pros And Cons Of Living Alone

About three weeks ago my roommate went home for the summer, and not to return until a week before school started. So until then I will be living alone. Living alone something that is frightening but also satisfying at the same time. Until this college I had never spent more than one day and night totally by myself. Even during my first two years of college if my roommate went away for the weekend. I always had suitemates right next door. After three weeks of living alone I have began to assemble some pros and cons to living alone for the summer.

Pros

If you make a mess you do not have to clean it up immediately. You can leave it there for a few days without feeling guilty.

You can spend as long as you want in the bathroom without feeling guilty for taking to long. Long showers and singing into my hairbrush has been great.

Nobody is there to notice your weirdness. You can sing aloud, talk to yourself, or dance around.

You can blast whatever music. Whenever and were ever. You do not have to worry about your roommate being asleep or on the phone.

Having friends over without disturbing others. Whenever you want.

Taking off your pants as soon as you walk in the door.

Watching whatever you want in the living room without hogging the TV. Binge watching "Friends" for the 10th time this summer. Do not mind if I do.

You do not have to talk to anyone all day if you do not want to.

You do not have to get out of bed all weekend without any judgement.

You can stretch out a read a book for hours or days without anyone noticing.

Nobody being loud will wake you up.

You can leave your stuff everywhere and any where.

You can get ready all over your house and then leave your mess for when you get home. Or for when right before someone comes over.

Cons

When you hear a noise you automatically someone is out to get you.

You will never watch a intense movie in your house.

When you have had a bad day there is never anyone to talk to or comfort you.

Going to bed the first couple of nights are scary but you get use to it.

You have to clean up your huge mess you have put off for weeks by yourself.

Nobody is there to parent you. Especially when you need to be parented.

You automatically lock all the doors and windows as soon as you get home.

You have to pay for rent and all the utilities by yourself on time.

You miss having someone to talk to when your friends aren't answering their texts.

You never have any food in your refrigerator.

If you sleep through your alarm or if the power goes out no one is there to tell you your going to be late for work.

If something breaks you have to call your landlord by yourself.

You can not carpool to the store to save gas.

Though living alone is great I am ready for my roommate to come back when school starts. But would you rather live alone or with someone else?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
