On Oct. 2, 2015, a gunman killed nine students at Umpqua Community College. While the bodies of the victims were still warm, Obama was already politicizing what had just happened.

Just like he has done with other mass shootings, Obama used this tragedy to push his gun control agenda forward.

"We know that states with the most gun laws tend to have the fewest gun deaths," he said. Then please explain to me why Chicago and Washington D.C., places that have some of the strictest gun laws in the country, also have some of the highest gun violence rates in the country? And why is Vermont, an extremely pro-gun state, considered the safest state?

The problem is not law-abiding citizens possessing guns. The problem is the gun-free zones where law-abiding gun owners are sitting ducks with no way to defend themselves. They are left vulnerable and helpless. Had someone in that classroom had a concealed weapon instead of waiting for the police, the gunman could have been stopped sooner.

Gun-free zones create a target. They openly invite criminals with guns in, because those criminals know that nobody there will be able to stop them. Most of the mass shootings that have happened in America have happened in gun-free zones. Columbine High School = gun-free zone. Virginia Tech = gun-free zone. Sandy Hook Elementary School = gun-free zone. Umpqua Community College = gun-free zone.

One school district in Texas made the decision to train and arm its teachers. This decision was made back in January, but they recently put up a sign on school grounds warning that the teachers are armed and prepared to protect the students. If every school did this, no gunman would ever enter a school again. If a gunman knew there would be dozens of armed people in a school ready to shoot at him the minute he drew his gun, he would think twice about setting foot inside.

Almost every mass shooting has been preventable. Gun-free zones are keeping the good guys from having guns and being able to put a quick end to a bad situation. Police can only get there so fast. An immediate situation requires immediate action; when a gunman is ready to begin shooting, he will not wait around for the police to show up before he starts committing his crime.

Someone who seeks to kill will always find a way. Liberals love to refer to European countries with lower gun crime rates. But they ignore that the United Kingdom has the highest knife violence rate in the world. Long before guns, people killed with rocks. People killed with swords. Taking away guns will not take away the evil in people's hearts.

Allow the good people to protect themselves when evil poses a threat. Allow students to be protected. Abolish gun-free zones.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
