The Prayer That Changed My Life

I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, battle, circumstance, or situation greater than you, Lord.

The Prayer That Changed My Life
French Press Mornings

In 8th grade,I was attending a Catholic private school in Puerto Rico called "Colegio Sagrado Corazón". I had an amazing teacher that taught me more about religion and life than anyone ever has. Every day a student would start the class with a prayer. Everyone knew when their turn was; therefore, when my turn was coming up I was very excited. I googled prayers online, but I found nothing that I wanted to share with my class. I wanted my prayer to be something that inspired others, something everyone would hopefully relate to. Then I found the prayer that changed my life. I can't really explain exactly how this prayer makes me feel, but it just calms me. In moments of stress, frustrations, worries and happiness, I remind myself to read this prayer. It feels like God is padding my back and saying "Everything is going to be okay." The prayer is in Spanish so I'm going to do the best of my availability to translate. This is the Spanish Version .

Dear God, I thank you for this day.

I thank you for being able to see and hear this morning.

I am blessed because you're a sympathetic and forgiving God.

You've done so much for me and keep continuous blessing every day.

Forgive me for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you.

Please keep me safe, away from danger and harm.

Help me to start this day with a new attitude and much gratitude.

Let me make the best of each day to clear my mind so I can hear your message.

Please open my mind so I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control.

Let me continue to see sin through your eyes Lord and teach me how to recognize the bad.

Continue to bless me so I can bless others.

Keep me strong to help the weak. Keep me uplifted so I can have words of encouragement for others.

I pray for those that are lost and can not find their way. I pray for those that do not know you intimately.

I pray for those who do not believe,

but I am thankful because I believe.

I believe you change people and change things.

I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, battle, circumstance, or situation greater than you, Lord.

I pray that these words will be received into people's hearts, that every eye that sees them and every mouth that pronounces them confesses them willinglly.

This is my prayer...

In Jesus name, Amen.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
