Feminine energy is the Goddess energy, which flows like oceans, enlightening the dark spaces, purifying everything that it touches.

If you live in a heavily patriarchal society like I do, you will find this phrase miles away from your radar. You see some of us still struggle to let go the narrative f what most culture preaches or more accurately defines submission as the right form of femininity for woman. No one wants to hear about some Goddess energy, especially if it threatens the already set notion of submission and power. That is one form of suppressed feminine energy on the spectrum. On the other end there are angry men in skirts.

Before I proceed please bear in mind, feminine energy is not identified with any gender. It exists in all of us, regardless of our gender.

You see that is exactly what patriarchy wanted you to believe. By saying this is a man's world, we are provoked to fight like men, when we can simply triumph and move forward with our feminine energy. They tell us we are objectified beings, so that we are made to think ourselves as objects. They tell us we are mistreated (which is a very big reality from where I come from) so that we forced to limit our existence's belief and live our life from the box they have set for us.

There is a reality in all of this, but here is my view on it. This is a limiting screen. Because all you see is patriarchy, fights against patriarchy, discussions talks and everything against it making it the sole performer of the show. If you see it the way I do, patriarchy has smartly made its move and successfully overshadowed another important character in the show. The femininity.

If you continue to see this limiting belief set against us women, more power to you. I am happy for you.

But for me I refuse to be defined by certain definitions, when I was born with so much more. You see when we women collectively view the world with a place for more opportunities, less victimhood and more possibilities with our own divine energy that will become a truth in general.

So What is Feminine Energy Really?

Feminine energy is being. It receives. It flows. Its essence is full of radiance and life. Feminine energy is the Goddess energy, which flows like oceans, enlightening the dark spaces, purifying everything that it touches. It is like soft waves that can be chaotic or pleasant on how you handle it.

Feminine energy is not submission, it is the being that has to be conquered. It lives within itself and brings compassion, sympathy, nurture, softness and diversity with it. Feminine energy simply put is beautiful and immensely powerful.

Masculine energy is the one that leads. That exhibits power, control and thrives in nothingness. Unlike the feminine energy, masculine energy likes direction and action. It wants to do, than to exist. It is always on a mission to be challenged, to be freed to be competed with. It thrives better when it lives on the edge.

The Feminine Masculine Balance

Masculine and feminine energies complement each other. They exists on the same spectrum but as two opposites. The yin and yang is the perfect example of what masculine and feminine energy is like.

Both of these energies balance each other. Without one, the other does not exist. This is why when we have masculine and feminine energy in one room, there is an instant pull of attraction and tension.

Now when it comes down to us human beings, both men and women are born with feminine and masculine energies. However only one energy has a more dominant essence on an individual. Generally, women identify more with feminine essence and men like to identify more with masculine energy.

Today most of the women are confused on their own polarity. Most of us today exhibit masculine energy while craving for a strong man to compliment us. Now I understand how life struggles put us on the edge but we have to be in charge of what we truly want and desire. I truly love this saying from

Clarissa Pinkola Estés's fantastic book Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype

"There is a time in our lives, usually in mid-life, when a woman has to make a decision — possibly the most important psychic decision of her future life — and that is, whether to be bitter or not."

I know broken promises, broken hearts and insensitive people are like the last straw in the camel's back and wants us to make us bitter angry and resentful towards everyone, but here is exactly where we need to reinvent our feminine energy from.

Accepting the wrong-doing is not the same as being resentful with revenge. A woman in her full might is a powerful force. She is life giving and the one who is deeply in touch with her feminine side is a stronger, more content and whole as a person. A happy woman is the source of life, creation and sheer abundance. She is content with her being. That does not mean that she does not face hard situations or people in her life. A feminine woman will lean back, reclaim her power, find her strength within herself and move on.

Rediscovering and Embracing your Femininity

In today's time it has become more important than ever to really go inside yourself and explore our feminine divine energy. We often feel overwhelmed in exploring our terrain of femininity. I get it, I often feel the same way as well. So while you are on the journey to explore your feminine side, there were few questions that I asked myself.

  • What is femininity for me? How do I see it? Does it truly align with the divine concept of femininity?
  • What makes me feel free, open, creative and amazing?
  • What should I do on daily basis that keeps me mindful of my feminine energy?

I have to say exploring these questions was not easy. More so because you have to be brutally honest with yourself. Some of the answers make you awkward yet you still have to look at yourself square in the eyes and accept them. In my own personal experience I first figured the concept of femininity completely wrong, I thought it was something against affluent women, but oh boy! Was I wrong? Creating an empire has nothing to do with being feminine. Being happy, content and free is!

So shutting down the guilt factor, embracing my previous not to feminine ways, I took it upon me o educate myself in cultivating a healthy feminine journey for myself.

After multiple reads, talking to my girlfriends and office colleagues and doing my own personal catharsis here are few practical tips I learnt to enhance my femininity:

  • Taking full responsibility for my existence. Life and dreams. Pointing others for your own problems actually is much worse than the. You practically hand over your power to the other person. So next time you feel frustrated with life, take a deep breath and see how you can take charge with the situation.
  • Read more about powerful women who handle their femininity equally well. Becoming, pride and prejudice, act like a woman think like a man by Steve Harvey are some of my favorite picks to truly understand how the dynamic of this world works.
  • Stop rationalizing everything. Allow yourself and your mind to relax. Not everything has to be in control sometimes it's best to let things be and focus on your own energy.
  • Work on yourself. Whether it's getting new haircut or buying a new serum of vitamin C, you have to level up your game both mentally and physically.
  • Find happiness in small things. Be creative and be open to creativity.
  • Spend more time outdoors, interacting with nature, animal and babies. The aim is to polish the element of femininity i.e., nurturing.
  • Block out the negative energy and people. Any form of negativity is a killer of your divine energy.
  • Meditate
  • Indulge in anything that brings you pleasure, rather make physical pleasure your priority. Do things that make you feel good?
  • Dance freely as if there is no tomorrow!
  • Give space to people in your life
  • If you are in a relationship, allow your man to lead and you will see some exciting shifts in your relationship

And most importantly, enjoy the attention!

Now that you are successfully on page with me, remember that we all have a feminine energy within ourselves, it just needs small bits of awakening. It's an energy unlike anything else in the world and it's rightfully yours. As Maya Angelo beautifully puts it a wise woman wishes to be no one' enemy; a wise woman refuses to be anyone's victim.

This year turn up on your feminine energy.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
