It’s by no coincidence that the more confident you are, the better you’ll do on a test. This could be passed off simply as correlation rather than causation; if you already know about a topic, you’ll be both more confident and more likely to ace the test. However, there is more to it than that. By projecting an air of confidence, you convince yourself that you can do what you’re being tested on.
Quite often, I am around people that think negatively. They tell themselves they can’t do something and wind up making it so they cannot. There is nothing stopping them from being able to complete the task, they just make it impossible for themselves to do so. These people convince themselves that they are incapable of performing tasks that they actually have the capacity to complete well. These lies take root and grow, overtaking all notions of being able to effectively complete what they set out to do. This is the wrong way of thinking about things.
By thinking positive we cannot ensure that we will do well; however, we can avoid doing as badly as we could have done. It is so incredibly important to think positively, or at the very least, confidently. This can be done in a manner of ways. The most important part is to have confidence in yourself; how you go about gaining that confidence changes based on the person.
Some people gain more confidence in themselves the more that others around them show their confidence in the person. Others have to develop it in themselves; they cannot be confident until they come to the conclusion on their own. But, this confidence is important. This confidence can lead people to take on extra tasks, tasks that they never would have otherwise dreamed of taking on.
Confident people tell themselves they can do something and then do it. There is no second guessing. There is nothing but determination and willingness to succeed. Quite often, confidence becomes synonymous with lack of common sense, but this does not always have to be the case. It is possible to have confidence and maintain a sense of realism.
Some people pledge to be pessimists, claiming it gives them more common sense and they’re less likely to be let down by the results. But this way, they’re also less likely to get the desired results to the degree to which they hope. By being pessimists, they’re solidifying their fate.
Confidence and positive thinking help us achieve what we set out to do. They help us be the people we want to be with the opportunities we want to have. The power of a mindset must not be overlooked.
