We all have one person in our lives that we've met that just stands out from all the rest, whether that be a best friend, parent, sibling, or someone who just made a big impact. This is the story of how I met My Person and why she has made such a huge impact on my life.

Leaving home and going to college can be an extremely scary thing, especially when you don't know very many people in the town you're moving to. When I decided to go to Jacksonville State University, my best friend was supposed to go with me and be my roommate, but due to unforeseeable events and some personal problems going on in her life she was unable to come to JSU, so I was without a roommate.

I had joined the color guard and over the Summer we had some camps to get us ready for the marching season. When I found out that my best friend was unable to come to Jacksonville I remembered a conversation I had with one of the other incoming freshmen on the color guard about how she was not very excited about the person who was going to be her roommate.

I sent her a message and asked her if she wanted to put in a request to be my roommate and she said that she would. I didn't know her very well, we had only had a few conversations over lunch during camp, but my gut told me that this was a good decision.

Fast forward to move in day, I arrive at my dorm excited and a little nervous about being away from home the first time. I and my family walk up the stairs carrying boxes and other items for my dorm. When I walked into the room my roommate and her family were already there unpacking her things.

I met her mom, dad, and sisters and instantly knew that these people were good people that I would be happy to have in my life. Unfortunately for us, we didn't have a whole lot of time to unpack before we had our first meeting for band camp. After we were done packing I said my goodbyes to my parents and my roommate and I headed to our meeting.

Band camp seemed to fly by and before we knew it the school semester had begun. We had already grown closer through the two weeks that we were there, having to endure the heat and stress like that will really bring you together.

For the first few months, neither one of us went anywhere without the other. Neither of us really knew anyone outside of the color guard people we had become friends with during band so those were the people we started hanging out with. In color guard, we do bigs and littles just like in a sorority and lucky for us our bigs were all really good friends.

Over the course of our first semester, we got super close. Over the spring semester while we were doing winter guard we got even closer as friends. That is when I realized that this girl was put in my life for a reason. She would be the one that I would go to when I was having problems and needed a shoulder to cry on or advice.

She is an amazing, beautiful, Godly, and talented woman and I am so happy to have her as a best friend for the past three years. She is everything I aspire to be and more. She has shown me so much grace when I am being difficult and stubborn and she has been my shoulder to cry on when I needed her.

Her family has been like a second family to me and I love them so much and appreciate everything they have done for me. I couldn't imagine my life without her and I know that no matter how far apart we end up after college I will always be able to call on her just to chat or when I am in need.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
