For someone who wears makeup on a near daily basis, it is always exciting when a new company launches or a company releases a new product. With so much hype surrounding the launch of Fenty Beauty, I was curious to see what made it so special, other than of course being created by Rihanna. Inclusivity in makeup has been a theme trending across many makeup brands recently, with the introduction of male models to companies like Covergirl and Maybelline, however, few companies actually follow through on this ideal.
As a woman of color, Rihanna has had much experience with the exclusivity of the makeup community. The lack of diversity in skin tones for foundation and concealers, among other things is what lead Rihanna to create Fenty Beauty. Her range of foundation colors aims to include everyone, from the darkest darks to the lightest lights. It is one of the only makeup companies with foundations to match those with albinism and appropriate shades for darker women of color. Not to mention the products are also cruelty-free.
The line has been majorly successful since its launch. Many other companies have also been taking the hint and have been advertising their darker shades on their social media platforms. Supporters of the brand have not been fooled and are very excited to see such an inclusive line.
Everything in the collection can be found at Sephora as well as on the Fenty Beauty site. As said by RiRi herself, "Makeup is there for you to play. It's there for you to have fun with. It should never feel like pressure, and it should never feel like a uniform". So whoever you are and whatever you look like take the time to look at the Fenty beauty collection and play around with it. Make sure to support the brands that support you!
