Dear future sister-in-law,

First, let me just say that I am the first girl who was in my brother's life and I am the one who will be here forever. We have a bond that can not be broken. He is the light of my life, my better half, my partner in crime and my best friend. This is why you must understand why I care about you being in his life. Read this letter carefully and never forget it.

Being his older sister, I've been here to experience every phase and experience in his life. Everything he did, I did, and we got to experience it together. He was the one who watched endless hours of Scooby Doo with me, he is the one who ran around outside with me, he is the one that tormented me to no ends and he is the one that loved me unconditionally. I don't remember a time that he wasn't by my side. Honestly, I'm uneasy about him having a new lady by his side.

My brother is not like other boys. He is mature and has been for a very long time. I'd like to think that is the way we have been raised, but he has always been very respectful towards everyone he meets. Teachers, coaches and parents love him. I'm sure this is not news to you, but it is something that I do not want you to ever forget. He is someone that will bend over backwards to make sure you are always happy. Please, do not take advantage of his kindness and do not mistake it for weakness. He may be sweet and he may do anything to make you happy, but he is not someone that will be walked all over.

I hope that you return his love for you equally. I've been around to witness all his relationships and I cannot say that I have always been pleased. Some of his girlfriends did not reciprocate in ways that they should have. They made my brother an option when he made them a priority. I promise you, if he is dating you and wants to marry you, he is promising to love you forever. My brother does not know temporary love. When he commits, just understand that his whole heart is in it. I've seen him hurt before and I never want that to happen again. Please promise that you will love him forever and not just leave when things get rough. Never take his surprise gifts or random signs of affection for granted. This is who he is and I hope that you love him as much as he loves you.

Lastly, I just want you to know that this is my little brother we are talking about. No matter how old he is, he will always be a baby in my eyes. Take care of him and love him forever. He deserves the world and I hope you can give him that.
