The Neighbourhood ended the month of October on a creepy note with their new album “Wiped Out!” The album is full of songs about romantic relationships, family issues, death, insecurities and anxiety. The band tweeted about “Wiped Out!” saying, “we wanted to make an album that sounded like moonlight shimmering on the Pacific Ocean.” Based on how metaphorically written just a tweet about the album is, it was no surprise to find substantive lyrics on the album itself. These are the best lyrics from The Neighbourhood’s “Wiped Out!”
1. “Everything changed when the birds came.”
-from the chorus of “Prey”
2. “The sun’s coming out but I’m feeling colder.”
-from the bridge of “Cry Baby”
3. “Short burning blade is uneasier subconscious soul”
-from the first verse of “Wiped Out!”
4. “I hope I don’t murder me. I hope I don’t burden you. If I do, I do.”
-from the chorus of “The Beach”
5. “I didn’t cry when you left at first, but now that you’re dead it hurts. This time I gotta know, where did my daddy go?”
-from the bridge of “Daddy Issues”
6. “She was five foot four, getting money on tour, but her socks were at the end of my bed.”
-from the second verse of “Baby Came Home / Valentines”
Side note: Be sure to listen to the original “Baby Came Home” from the Neighbourhood’s EP “I’m Sorry…” to learn more about the story.
7. “Handcuffed and I thought of you. Made love and I thought of you. My daddy died, I just thought of you.”
-from the bridge of “Greetings from California”
8. “I met her at church, but she could be Satan.”
-from the chorus of “Ferrari”
9. “And I’m allergic to the waiting.”
-from the first pre-chorus of “Single”
10. “Put me in the dirt, let me dream with the stars.”
-from the second verse of “R.I.P. 2 My Youth”
