Religion and spirituality are tough topics to navigate through when talking to people. I can say that I am a very flawed person that is spiritual and I am still learning. I can also say that I have met the greatest people that are spiritual and are very serious in practicing their various faiths, while I have also met the nicest people that are atheists or agnostic. You can't judge people solely by their practices. Everyone in life goes through various events that make them believe what they believe and makes them who they are, both good and bad events. Nobody is wrong and nobody is right. Life is tough and we need more empathy. This article is NOT dissing any religion or any forms of spirituality at all.

With saying that, some of the best people with the worst pasts have been atheists while some of the worst people with with bad pasts have been "religious."If you survive something traumatic, good for you. I'm cheering you on all the way. My only issue is when you have a God complex and aren't a real religious person or spiritual person. I'm not religious and I'm spiritual, but I know if you're religious, you don't pick and choose what you like. You're in a faith to follow the rules, like actually treating people kind. The golden rule in most religions is to treat people how you want to be treated, so if you say you do to church and put people down or are nasty, you need to get off your moral high horse because you're not being true to whatever faith you say you belong in. You're not a "person of God" if you're busy being a cocky jerk to others with a morality complex. People that follow religious rules and truly believe they are "people of God(s)" are kind to most people and have more empathy because they know others have troubles just like them. That's what religion and spirituality rules are like. This is how most people that follow religion and spirituality are.

The sad thing is that many people that say they follow certain spiritual or religious patterns are hypocrites, but this has been since the dawn of time. In my opinion, nobody is better than any one person. We are all equal and are capable of doing nice and bad things. You can’t say because you’re a church goer, a crystal healer, or you pray three times a day that you’re any better than anyone else and treat those that don’t live your way badly. People also can’t treat people that do these things badly either because everyone chooses how they live and what they believe. Whether or not you choose to believe or not believe in certain practices doesn’t dictate how you can treat people. Everyone deserves respect.

I'm spiritual and love most people, but I can admit when I'm being a jerk, like I am right now for writing this because I have been seeing so many people with a morality complex that just need to climb off their high horse, and I say this again because for the most part, spirituality and religious people are supposed to love people and animals. Both of these are about empathy, and many of the people I know that claim to be spiritual or religious empaths are going into fields like nursing, teaching, and psychology. The thing is, you are meant to not judge people in these areas. Honestly, if you're going into those fields, you need empathy and to understand where people are coming from. You’re also supposed to help people and take the lessons that you say you believe into your profession. If you have a higher than life attitude and lose patience with people, you’re still a great person, but you’re not doing the right thing and you need to re examine your life and life choices.

People need love to grow. People need to not be judged. It doesn’t matter what you believe or don’t believe because everyone is fighting something and struggling. Please just show love and kindness. That’s what the world needs. Religion and spirituality doesn't make a person higher up or above anyone, because we are all still learning about life. Treating people right makes us all equal because we are all imperfect and we all struggle, whether or not you're in a religion, spiritual, or an atheist. Please be kind to all and don't be morally corrupt with a morality complex. The world needs more empaths.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
