I Do Not Plan On Moving Anytime Soon

Some call it Dirty Jersey, I call it home. This is the time of my life where I'm thinking about where I'd like to move once I graduate, and to be honest, I don't really want to go anywhere. My county and my town have so much potential and things to do, I thought I'd share a few below.

There's plenty of movie theaters. I could walk into in almost any town in Bergen County and find a great movie theater, which means I never have to go far to see a movie with family or friends which is really cool. I don't go to many movies, but knowing I have a few theaters at my convenience is cool.

There's always concerts in the summer. I also don't go to many of these, but almost every weekend there's concerts in the parks. The amount of land that are in central areas of most of the towns in Bergen County is really amazing. I remember when I first started walking into town for fun on the weekends, my friends and I would hang out at the Gazebo and walk around the various fields and go to games for all the different Rec sports because we just liked the area we were in. I have always felt safe in my town, it's one of the only places I will willingly walk home really late at night by myself.

There are a lot of great schools! Some include: Ramapo, Bergen Community and Fairleigh Dickinson to name a few. I took a class at BCC this summer and even though I complained about summer school every day; it was an awesome class and we are so blessed to have such a great community college. I also applied to Ramapo and almost went, but chose the other FDU campus. FDU is the leader in global education, and that's something to take pride in- whether I go to the Teaneck campus or not.

Bergen Academies and other tech schools are incredibly popular. I know a lot of people who went to technical schools, my mom included (back in the day). It's really great how many facilities we have around here.

There's plenty of malls. I work and have worked in retail for 3 years. I very much love to shop online, but I also really love the environment of malls and we have some of the best in Bergen County.

While I'm sure most towns have some or even all of these things, for me, this is what I can brag about. I love my town and would love to start a family in this area or in an area like it. Some might complain, but for me it's just right. Thanks Bergen County, for raising me in the best environment and for modeling where I want to raise my kids one day.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
