I remember the day as if it was yesterday. We started talking and you asked if we could skype. I was shy so I kept pushing it off until later until eventually I gave in. We talked for hours; until 4 am to be exact. We fell asleep with the cameras on our faces and woke up next to each other. Little did we know that in a few months, we would be waking up next to each other for the rest of our lives.
You drove two hours just to pick me up so we could meet for the first time. I remember running out to the parking lot and hugging you as if we had known each other our whole lives. We drove home and talked about everything from our favorite foods to what we liked to do in our free time. It was at that moment that I knew that you were going to be a very important person to me. You were going to have such a huge impact on my life and neither of us had any idea.
We struggled a bit in the past several months and we both thought that it was the end for us, but then on June 6th, everything changed. You left for the Marines without any sort of notice and that was it. I thought you were gone forever. And then two weeks later, June 20th, my world became a little brighter. I crawled out of bed, walked to the mailbox, and I saw a letter. A letter from you. A letter saying that you loved me.
Four months later and we are happier than ever. We are stronger than ever. And I now know that you are the one that I want to spend the rest of my life with. You’re the one that I want a family with, both dogs and kids. You’re the one that makes my life complete.
So despite the struggles that we have faced in the past, these past couple months have made up for it all. Thank you for loving me even though I can be a handful sometimes. Thank you for loving me even though I spend all of your money on food because I’m always hungry. Thank you for being not only my lover, but my best friend, my soulmate. Thank you for being there for me and supporting my dreams, especially when I want to give up on myself and school sometimes. Thank you for telling me I’m beautiful even when I have just woken up and my hair's a mess.
But most importantly, thank you for being you and thank you for stealing my heart.
