Music. One of the few things in life that can transport you to a completely different world. There is a style out there for everyone; whether it be indie, metal, EDM, rap, classical, or whatever else, music really can be the key to many people's souls. As a kid, I grew up listening to '70s and '80s rock and all of the Golden Oldies, it wasn't until middle school when I finally started to discover my own tastes. I ended up gravitating towards rock and some of today's music, eventually that expanded to include indie, folk, electronica, rap, reggae, and a bunch more. What is even more magical is when you actually attend a festival, or concert, and get to experience a live performance. Nietzsche once said, "without music, life would be a mistake" and he was definitely right.
In lieu of it being Voodoo Fest weekend in New Orleans, I thought that it would be appropriate to write this article as a way to encourage individuals to attend music festivals (or concerts). I attended my first concerts when I was seventeen. My dad happened to get tickets to see Sublime and 311, from that moment on I fell in love with live performances. We eventually went and saw Rob Zombie two weekends later. I eventually went to my first festival the day before my eighteenth birthday, and it was amazing. The amount of energy you feel from everyone around you is enchanting. There’s nothing but positive vibes, music, and you can actually meet some pretty interesting individual. So here's a list of seven reasons why attending at least one music festival should be on your bucket list.
2. You finally get to use your talent of running off of no sleep for something other than work or school.
3. You can dance like an idiot and not get judged.
4. You can get away with wearing just about anything.
5. Negativity is nonexistent.
6. You become one with the music.
7. It's just an amazingly fun experience.

So save up, dig through your couch for change, start a GoFundMe, do whatever you need to so you can get yourself some tickets. It will be something you will never forget.
