The Lesser Of Two Evils

The media has played a huge part in this election.

On November 9, 2016, a historical moment in the United States happened that will bring shame to our country. A racist, bigot, reality TV star, businessman, with no political experience will become president in January of 2017. Along with his porno star/model wife Melania Trump, who will become our first lady (GREAT JOB AMERICA). This election has been a shame to our country, and I’m disgusted at the fact that the American public chose Hillary R. Clinton as the DNC candidate for presidency during the primary election. But, I’m not shocked at the fact that Donald J. Trump was chosen as the republican candidate during the primary.

We all know for a fact that Trump based his campaign on being racist, sexist, misogynistic, and childlike. I despise the fact that the media never showed how deeply flawed Clinton is. She was never the best choice; if anyone voted for her, they voted for declaring militarism, economic inequality, and an ignorant liberal racist. What I mean by an ignorant racist: she is basically a right wing wolf in reformist sheep’s clothing. Also, her words can say that she stands for gay rights, equality rights, black lives matter, and the working middle class, but her actions are completely different from what she is saying.

The media has had a huge part in this election. They never paid any attention to the Green Party or the Libertarian party. They were having a “field day” for months with Trump and Clinton. Shame on the democratic party for not taking Trump’s candidacy seriously. Trump was treated as a joke, but never was a joke. That is the democratic party’s fault and because of that, they only strengthened Trump.

LET THIS SINK IN… 63% white males and 52% white females voted for Trump. 62% Latino males and 68% Latino females voted for Hillary Clinton. 80% black males and 93% black females voted for Hillary. The majority of these votes were from millennials ages around 18 to 29.

This election was complete utter TRASH; these two candidates were the worst choices. This woke me up to the fact that this entire political system which includes racism, white supremacy, patriarchy, sexism, capitalism, and free market needs to be dismantled and overhaulled.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
