If you enjoyed the recent "The Jungle Book" movie, then you are sure to enjoy Tarzan that just came out this weekend. Tarzan, a man who lived in the Africa with his ape family all of his childhood life, now lived in London where at the time King Leopold of Belgium is trying to rob diamonds from the Belgium Congo and enslave all of its people. Tarzan now married to his long time friend Jane, is well spoken and civilized trying to forget who he once was; though the world treats him like a celebrity.
Tarzan hears what is happening in the Congo and is persuaded by George Washington Williams to go and gather proof on everything bad that is happening. Jane, who also lived in Africa with her father in a tribe, goes with Tarzan and Williams to visit her friends.
The movie portrays the African scenery in such a beautiful way, and though the animals are only CGI, they all look very realistic and have incredible attributes that make the animals seem real. The movie reminded me a lot of The Jungle Book; from its CGI animals to its gritty dark but also light jungle theme. The jungle comes to life in these movies and it makes the people want to jump on screen and visit it themselves.
Alexander Skarsgard brought Tarzan to life once again from his memorable ape-man body to his incredible acting as someone who will do anything for their Jane, just like we remembered in the Disney cartoons. Margaret Robbie played an incredible Jane, a strong witty woman who even when in danger kept her calm at all times and knew exactly how to handle her situation. Samuel Jackson, who once again kills another role as George Washington Williams brings a real life character and gives him a lot of spirit.
The villain, Christoph Waltz once again amazes me with his role as Leon Rom. In every role Waltz does he always does such a memorable character and here being the villain it is once again another memorable one.
The movie is a memorable one, and I know I will put it up there with the other Tarzan movies, this one being in my top three. I loved the chemistry between Tarzan and Jane, the African Tribes fighting for their freedom, and the animals who also fought for their land. I give this movie a 7 out of 10.
