The Joy Winter Gave

A poem.

As the snow fell from the sky

They all shouted with joy,

Running outside, passing me by.

I stayed by the window,

Looking out at the hills and the trees,

All covered in snow.

I could see my breath in the air.

The frost began to frame the glass,

But still I remained there.

For with all the joy that winter gave,

In it rests my isolation within the storm.

This heart of mine, I tried to save.

For all the warmth that I possessed

She took from me as she left.

Cursed be my heart of a love ne'er confessed.
