Different people have their own places of paradise in their professions. Some people feel the most comfortable in a laboratory, some feel comfortable in an art studio or on the stage. For me, the classroom is where I feel confident. I love working with children. It's been a rewarding experience each time. There are so many positive feelings I have towards being an education major: It brings me a sense of fulfillment, it allows relationships to be made, and it instills a good work ethic and sense of determination.
First, I feel incredibly fulfilled when I am in the classroom. It makes me feel happy when every child's needs are attended to, and when they understand a concept. Patience is key in making sure kids have a successful education experience, and giving them interactive activities. I also feel fulfilled when I am recognized for my efforts. I loved hearing the positive things that children have told me when I helped them to understand something, and when other teachers have appreciated my help. Education should be an enriching part of every child's life, and the curriculum should reflect that.
Second, I have developed amazing relationships with children, teachers, and parents. It feels great to know that parents respond positively to me, and when they pick-up their children. I have a very enthusiastic attitude, and I am very loving and caring. I think that's what makes a relationship successful. Children need good role models in their lives, and I want to be a good role model for them.
Third and lastly, being an education major has instilled a strong work ethic and sense of determination. Teaching is not an easy job-You're not just dealing with other teachers and your students, but parents and the school administration as well. It's long hours, and you have to follow state standards which are pretty rigid. A lot of people underestimate how difficult the teaching profession really is. Teachers work extremely hard and certainly need to be respected more.
Overall, studying education has taught me so much. I have had a lot of experiences in this field, and I look forward to applying everything I have learned in my future profession.
