They say that "food is the way to a man's heart."
This expression has always baffled me because I am confident that it applies to both men and women.
In fact, it should be widely understood that "food is the way to anyone's heart." For this very reason, I always become overjoyed when I find new food "spots."
I use the word "spots" because my selection can range from food restaurants, food trucks, fast food or fresh food from farmer's markets.
Last Sunday I was again blessed to have found another exquisite restaurant in Glendale called Mini Kabob. After several minutes of indecisively trying to figure out what to eat with my friends, I resorted to Yelp, like every other millennial.
Once we had written "Mediterranean food" in the search bar, Mini Kabob came up as the first result. Being fairly close to our location, my friends and I agreed that we would give this restaurant a try since it had received excellent reviews.
Upon opening the door, we were greeted with two small plastic tables and a fan that did not effectively heat the area because of the overwhelming heat from the cooking.
Despite these cons, we decided to order our food, which consisted of three orders of the chicken breast kabob. Our server and cook was a young man who informed us that he owned the place along with the two other workers who were his mom and dad. He proceeded to give us hummus, which he stated was his grandmother's special recipe.
After dipping my pita bread into the hummus and taking a bite, I knew I would be frequenting Mini Kabob at least one a week.
I was further assured of this after receiving my food which was beyond gratifying. The chicken was spectacularly juicy and the rice was impeccable.
Since then, I have gone back to Mini Kabob twice and have not been disappointed.
The small milieu, which seemed like a con before, now gives me a certain happiness because it allows for me to converse with the friendly people who are passionate about filling hungry stomachs.
It is important that individuals continue to support local food restaurants, especially if they are as tasty as Mini Kabob!
