The Instagram bubble is something that most teens and 20-somethings, primarily girls, take part in. People look at you based off of your Instagram account and what you think of others is based off of theirs. Not a big deal, right?
You are not a representation of how many likes you get. Show people who you are instead of altering yourself to get people to double tap your picture.
Think about all the time you spend planning an Instagram. Maybe you are as confident as can be and it only takes you 20 seconds. Most girls aren’t like this. Most girls plan their Instagrams strategically in hopes their pic will surpass 100…200…300 likes.
The picture: “Guys, we need to take a super cute Insta-worthy pic tonight” *takes “candid” laughing pic*
Funny caption: “SOMEONE HELP ME THINK OF A CAPTION”
The filter: You scroll through every single one ten times, use external apps to get more, and ask multiple people which one looks better.
Pop the bubble. Stop planning your Instagram accounts so much! You are de-personalizing yourself by putting that much time and effort into something just to get likes. You’re being fake; we are all guilty of it! You are not a representation of how many likes you get. Show people who you are instead of altering yourself to get people to double tap your picture.
Remember this when you look at someone else’s pictures too. You should never look at an Instagram and feel bad about yourself because someone else looks like they have more friends, look better, and are having more fun. Remember that that is what they want you to think.
