The Importance Of The Gym

The gym is a pretty important place in my life as I go 3-5 times every week to better myself in many ways. I used to be skinnier and weak, but going to the gym I have tried my best to change that. Going to the gym has improved my lifestyle in more ways than most people see. The gym is an important place to better yourself physically and mentally to live a long happy life and can benefit people of all ages.

The Strength Training

Guys and girls both go to the gym to improve their bodies so they look good and feel good. They do it because they want their body to look good. People attempt to lose their weight in fat and gain it back in muscle and work on training strength. Some people focus on certain body parts for sports or they attempt to improve their weak points. I can not tell you how good it feels to finally hit a new max or to continue doing more weight on bench or squats. People strive their best to train at achieving their goals as they better themselves.

The Real World

Some people may play sports, go to the military, or have a job that requires a person to be able to lift a lot so being in shape and capable of being healthy and important. Retail and sales workers may have to unload trucks or move heavy equipment to perform their job. Cops have to be in shape as they train to stop criminals and defend themselves. EMTs and nurses have to be strong enough to take care of people who are hurt or need daily help living their lives. The important thing is that working out can benefit. Some people play sports in college or as an adult and want to stay in shape to be able to play. There are also some people who are not very athletic, but they enjoy going to the gym and bettering themselves because it only takes hard work. I am a pretty small guy and not very athletic, but with hard work, I continue to learn and improve my strength, cardio, and body at the gym.

The Diet

There is more to getting healthy than just going to the gym because it is important to eat healthily, but going to the gym inspires me and others to get on a diet. Diets are great at helping people lose weight and become healthier to extend their lifestyle. I have begun a diet by eating more protein and drinking multiple protein shakes a week to help me in getting bigger and stronger. Drinking soda or too much coffee is a problem for some people and it can hurt your body, but working out can motivate a person to drink more water and keep themselves healthy and hydrated. Being on a diet can help a person have the body shape and size they want for other people to see or for themselves.

Mental Health

I have struggled with Anxiety for years and being a full-time college student while working takes its toll on many people. Working out or running can take a person's mind off thing and have time to get away from their problems for a little while. Improving yourself at the gym is a good way to boost your self-confidence and improve self-esteem and motivates you to think of ideas you can do to improve your daily life. Lifting is a great stress reliever and benefits a person to cope with their daily life.

The Commitment

The gym takes a lot of time and commitment every week to make sure a person works every part of their body to get fit and stronger. You must workout multiple times a week for 1-2 hours to keep your body used to workout and to improve your physical abilities, Sometimes a person has to cram more into their schedule and have emergencies so they skip the gym, but it is important to go as much as you can and not skip because you are tired. I find that when I do not feel like going I go anyway and push myself and end up having a great workout and I start feeling so much better and motivated,

I think going to the gym has made me more confident in the way I look and feel. I look forward to spending time in the gym lifting and improving my strength training. I also enjoy running more than I used to and I can work on my basketball skills because I enjoy playing pickup games. The gym has something for everyone and there are always trainers at the gym, supportive friends, and online tutorials to help a person learn how to train in ways that work best for them to improve. Signing up for the gym was the best decision I ever made and has helped me in ways I never thought was possible.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
