As I am sitting in my spare room, I have Wanted On the Voyage playing in the back. My youngest sister, Nevaeh, is finding herself making up cool new dance moves as the album plays song-to-song. Many would definitely say, my music taste is as back and forth as this weather has been for these last couple of months. From punk rock, pop-punk, rap, alt-rock, the list goes on and on. Music has and always will be a very important part of my life, and one of my most favorite things in the world is discovering new artists and their music. Amidst the constant search for new artists, one thing has remained constant, and it is a vibe and a very certain love I have for these three musicians. Each of them, with their very own, unique, sound; along with lyrics that hit far too home for myself. These three are like no others and I am completely stoked to hear these guys’ music played on the radio simply being the fact that their music is so far away from your average Pop chart-toppers. From their sound, the guitars, to their look, they really are what this music industry needs right now and I am enjoying every second of it. If you’ve heard this before, then you're simply hearing it again, these three musicians are going places.
First up of the bunch: George Ezra

George Ezra, a 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Hertford, England, is notoriously known for his 2014 hit, “Budapest’” which hit U.S radios summer of 2015. With an old soul, blues-pop feel and deep voice (which undoubtedly forces one to question his youth) to match it, Ezra is a unique package. Story goes, Ezra went on a trip around Europe a couple years ago stopping in mesmerizing places such as Amsterdam, Netherlands and Barcelona, Spain (ironically, he missed his stop in Budapest). Everything Ezra absorbed from the European trip is exactly what sparked Wanted On the Voyage. Of course, Ezra has previous EPs that were released prior to his first full-length album, some were songs that made it on his debut album, along with songs that are specially pertained to the EPs themselves (and those are a must to listen to, too).
Though, of course, I wish more would know him for more than just “Budapest”. Trust me when I say, Ezra is a lyrical genius and Wanted On the Voyage showcases just that. My personal favorites off his debut album: “Breakaway”, “Over the Creek”, and “Leaving It Up to You”. Not only does he sing, but his style of guitars is quite awesome, too. His music really carries you to a different place, and having a voice like no other, once you've listened to this man (no pun intended) Ezra leaves his mark on you, forever.
Next up: James Bay

Next up is the 25 year old singer-songwriter James Bay who is making his mark with his soulful sound and truly remarkable lyrics. This heartthrob, from a small town in England called Hitchin, released his first full-length album just this year (2015) titled, Chaos and the Calm. Known for “Let It Go”, a song about letting go of an ex (or anything toxic, really) and moving on from a relationship that has felt far too forceful for a feeling that is no longer there (this song gets you right in the feels) . “Let It Go” soon led the U.S charts later on in the year.
Off the album, Chaos and the Calm, my favorites are “Scars”, “Let it Go” and “If You Ever Want To Be In Love”. Bay is the type of artist I feel like read my journal and wrote everything I've ever known to feel about certain things and it’s awesome to have an artist like him out there to relate to along with a different sound than most are used to. One reason I enjoy listening to James Bay is that his songs have a greater and deeper meaning than most songs out there right now. Within the album it’s a classic case of ‘a little bit of this, a little bit of that…’. Of course, I am definitely looking forward to seeing what 2016 has in store for Bay.
Last but certainly not least: Vance Joy

Dynamic Duo: Joy and his Ukulele. Vance joy, the final sing-songwriter of this trinity. Born and raised as James Keogh, in Australia, the singer decided to use Vance Joy as his artist name inspired by a character from a book he read when he was a child. Famously known for his chart topper “Riptide” (which set a record in Australia for Most Weeks in the Top 100!), Joy released his very first full-length album Dream Your Life Away, last year (2014) in late September. One of my close friends, Nathan, was really into him around that time and it definitely brushed off on me. He gave me Joy’s album and I spent most of my time listening to Dream Your Life Away in my room and within about a week I had the whole album memorized because it was just that good. This album is a feel good one for the most part. My favorites off of Joy’s album are “Georgia”, “Best That I Can”, and “Wasted Time”. Luckily, you can catch Joy and his ukulele at a U.S Spring 2016 show titled, 'The Fire and Flood Tour' and trust me I am really excited to finally see him live.
I am undoubtedly ecstatic for 2016 to see how these three grow, as I most certainly will continue to cross my fingers so that I can see all of them live.
