For all of us that live in Nacogdoches, we know that in our lovely little town, there are some things that not everyone knows about. I like to call these our "hidden gems." If, for some reason, you haven't checked these out, put them on your to-do list! This is the list I came up with after being in "Nac" for the past year.
1. Banita Creek Hall
Okay, so this one shouldn't come as a surprise, but Banita hosts a TON of events that a lot of people don't know about! If you haven't checked out their concert line up for the fall semester, check it out. There are some really big name artists coming to town in the next few weeks, like the Josh Abbott Band, Maddie and Tae, Aaron Watson, and Cody John! They also offer FREE two-stepping lessons!
2. Jalapeño Tree
Or "J-Tree," as the cool kids like to call it. If you are craving some really good Mexican food, check out Jalapeño Tree. They have really good food for a reasonable price. And there's free ice cream.
3. Old Towne
Their food is delicious and very affordable. It's located right in downtown!

4. Liberty Bell
This place is perfect if you are looking for somewhere to celebrate a special event or just get a different type of atmosphere. Liberty Bell has more a pub-style look to it, and it's also located in downtown.
5. Kinfolks
The breakfast here is on point. If you want your typical homemade breakfast, this is the place you need to go to. They're located right off the loop and they have the friendliest staff you'll ever meet.
6. Lake Nacogdoches
This one is my personal favorite. It's only 25 minutes from campus and its perfect if you just want to get away for a couple hours or do things like fishing, kayaking, and hammocking. The best part of "Lake Nac" is that it's totally free. There is also a killer sunset view, so you have to go check it out.
7. The SFA Arboretum
This is another option if you love the outdoors. The Arboretum is perfect if you want to go for a walk and explore, and there's really cool art pieces that you can take pictures with, so it makes for some really good memories.
