Everyone dreams of their fairy tale romance. Perhaps you are waiting for your knight in shining armor, but so far have only ended up with a frog. Or maybe going to save the princess from a sketchy tower guarded by a dragon is not really your style. What if I told you that someone loves you with no strings attached? No awkward dates, no heartbreaks, no strings attached. Nothing but unending, undeserved, unconditional love.
It sounds too good to be true, right? How could somebody that I do not know love me so much? I am definitely not worthy of this kind of love and adoration. Well, friend, somebody loved you enough to die for you. Impossible, you say? Let me tell you a story.
Once upon a time, in a far-off kingdom… no, not that kind of story. Although this story took place thousands of years ago, it is still very relevant today.
Once upon a time, a man married a woman who was known to be unfaithful. He loved her as himself, and for a time, the woman stayed true to him. The two had multiple children together, and were very happy. However, as time went on, the woman found herself another man, and left her husband to live with the other man. This other man, however, sold her into slavery. When the husband found out about this situation, he searched high and low for her- to bring her back to himself. I do not know about you, but if the love of my life deserted me and then ended up getting hitting rock bottom, I do not know that I would be willing to take that person back. This husband, however, SEEKS her out. He travels all over asking people if they know where she is. Finally, he finds her- dirty, sick, ragged, and chained to an auction block. The husband bought her back. He paid for her, brought her home, and worked to restore their relationship. How does this apply to your life, you ask?
Thousands of years ago, there was a big tear in a huge relationship. Something that only one perfect person could fix. The gap between the man and his beloved was so wide, that a plan had to be put in place to get her back. So in walks the man. He makes himself lower than a servant to win her back. He endures humiliation, pain, anger, and many other things that he does not deserve. He travels the countryside and cities alike trying to win her back. But, she continues to stray away from him. He loves her so much that he dies to save her. But this is not the end of the story. After the third day, the man rises from the dead, conquering death forever.
The man in this story is Jesus Christ, and YOU are His beloved, his bride. Although you do not deserve the unending love He has to give, He seeks you out every day to be the love of His life, His beloved. The best part is that all you need to do to receive this unconditional love is ask. You do not have to be the best student, do the most community service, or even have stepped into a church before. Jesus wants YOU. He wants you to give Him all of your imperfections, insecurities, and your past, so that He can transform your future. Please do not pass up this beautiful opportunity, I promise it will change your life forever.
