12 Signs You're Actually 'The Grandma' Of Your Friend Group

Everyone has heard of the "mom friend" but there is a fine line between being a mom and being a grandma when it comes to looking out for your friends. Here are twelve signs that you may actually be the "grandmother" of your friend group.

1. You're always cooking and baking for your friends.

From delivering homemade soups to your friends when they're sick, to making sure they do not go home without sending them off with little Tupperware containers of leftovers. You feel responsible for making sure your friends are well-fed with good food. And being the master chef you are, you know good food.

2. You're always emailing or texting them links to articles you think they'd like.

Six steps to getting a better night's sleep? Oh, I know exactly who needs to read this! Five vegan, gluten-free recipes for fall? I have to send this to everyone as a PSA!

3. You're an early riser.

If you enjoy waking up with the sun every morning, you are probably the grandma friend.

4. You physically can't stay up past 11 p.m.

If late parties or night excursions make you scrunch up your nose, you already know you're on your way to grandmotherhood. Your idea of a perfect night is turning in a little past 10 and cuddling up with a book before you turn out the lights.

5. You're a bit of a nag, but in an endearing way.

Text me when you get home! Don't forget to wear a sweater - it's cold out! Don't forget to pay your rent this month! Do you need some extra money to cover it? Here, here, let me give you my money please you poor hard-working thing you need a break.

6. You have at least one hobby that involves yarn, fabric, or embroidery needles.

Knitting, crocheting, sewing, stitch work, darning, embroidery. If it takes an abnormal amount of patience and a lot of repetitive steps, you've aged well.

7. You like to volunteer.

Especially if it involves caring for little children or animals.

8. You prefer a night in with the girls over going out.

Watching movies or playing board games with the ladies beats any night out or bar crawling.

9. You make a lot of doctor appointments.

Okay so maybe you're a hypochondriac or maybe you have the worst immune system ever. Either way, it never hurts to check.

10. You have at least one living plant that you take care of religiously.

Grandmothers love taking care of other living things. They are just born with a green thumb.

11. You love to write letters and tell people how much they mean to you.

It is a little old-school but timeless. There is nothing sweeter than knowing you made someone's day by reminding them how special they are to you. Thank you cards, holiday cards, or letters "just because" fill you with a certain joy when you know they are on their way to loved ones.

12. You have a certain "je ne sais qoui" about you.

You have a youthful glimmer in your eyes and a coy smile that lets people know you are wise beyond your years. People may describe you as elegant, refined, poised, or graceful.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
