6 Things I Hope The "Gilmore Girls" Revival Brings

Earlier this year I learned something that made my 16-year-old self very happy: Netflix is reviving "Gilmore Girls." I started watching "Gilmore Girls" in middle school and was instantly hooked. By high school, the show became my guilty pleasure and I could never change the channel when the mother-daughter pair of Lorelai and Rory were on the screen.

While I did watch the TV series as it originally aired, I watched all seven seasons again just last year, as a college student who prefers Netflix to actual human interaction. This all being said, when I found out a few months ago that Netflix is going to revive this beloved series, I cried tears of joy. Not only did I get to see four more episodes of "Gilmore Girls," each 90-minutes long, but I get to find out where all of the characters ended up and what all the hot gossip is in Stars Hollow.

As all the "Gilmore Girls" fanatics are getting prepared for the revival, which is said to be beginning production next year, people are wondering what this revival will bring us and if it'll, in fact, be as good as the original series.

While there's no such thing as a bad "Gilmore Girls" storyline, these are six things that I am hoping to get out of this glorious revival:

1. An answer as to what exactly happened with Lorelai and Luke.

As anyone who watched the show knows, Lorelai and Luke's chemistry throughout the whole show was incredible. While they did remain just friends for the first half of the series, we were all overjoyed when Luke finally kissed Lorelai and they became a couple. While they obviously had their problems as a couple and broke up multiple times, the series ended with them in the same room and Luke saying to Lorelai, "Take all the time you need," so we can only hope that they ended up together. Unfortunately, though, it was left pretty open-ended, so we can only hope that the writers for the show believe in true love and will make them end up together forever.

2. Some insight on Rory’s love life and career.

When the series ended, Rory had just turned down Logan’s marriage proposal, which I am still bitter about, and she was off to start her life as an adult and put her journalism skills to use on the campaign trail with Obama. Since Obama is now serving his second term as president, it’ll be interesting to see if they somehow work that into the show. Also, will they still have her working on campaigns or will she be back in Stars Hollow? The possibilities for her are endless, but personally, I’m just holding onto hope that Logan will somehow be back in the picture. Realistically, though, Rory will have a new boyfriend that no one’s ever heard of before and I’ll hate him because he isn’t one of her gorgeous, awesome exes.

3. A look at what happened to Rory’s grandparents.

Unfortunately, Edward Herrmann, who played Rory’s grandfather, died almost a year ago, but I’m hoping that will not stop the writers from somehow incorporating the grandparents into the revival. While the show will not be the same without the adored grandfather, I can only hope that Rory’s sassy grandmother will make an appearance. Every season of the show focused so heavily on both Lorelai and Rory’s relationships with the grandparents, and the show won’t be the same without that.

4. Anecdotes about the many characters that make up Stars Hollow.

The show is set in Stars Hollow, which is a small town in Connecticut. While the town may be small, though, the characters in it were anything but. From Miss Patty and Miss Babette to Lane and her crazy mother, these characters had more love and humor than most and they truly made the show great. After watching the show, I wanted to live in a town like this one so badly. I can only hope that the revival will still be set in Stars Hollow and that all of the stars will come back for it.

5. An answer as to what Amy Sherman-Palladino’s final four words were going to be.

Amy Sherman-Palladino is the creator of "Gilmore Girls," but while she did create the series, she was not involved with the final season of the show. The final season was left in the hands of the show’s funny and capable writers and while they did manage to end it with dignity, it wasn’t how Sherman-Palladino necessarily wanted. From the beginning of the show, Sherman-Palladino planned to end the series with four mysterious words, but since she wasn’t involved with the final season, she didn’t get the chance to do so. I can only hope that the Netflix revival will end with those four words, finally putting this mystery to an end.

6. The hilarious mother-daughter relationship that is Lorelai and Rory.

This entire show is based on the amazing relationship between Lorelai and her daughter, Rory. Lorelei got pregnant in high school and raised Rory on her own, for the most part, and they've always been best friends. It's not very typical to have a relationship with your mother like Rory does with Lorelai, but ever since I started watching the show, I've vowed to have this type of relationship with the daughter that I someday hope to have. On top of how close they are, their humor is what makes the show. Their one-liners to each other always make me laugh and they make the show enjoyable. The show would be nothing without their amazing relationship so I am crossing my fingers that all is good, on that front and that the writers will continue to bring the great humor that they did in the previous seven seasons.

While there are no guarantees that the entire cast will return for the "Gilmore Girls" revival, I can only hope that it will be as funny and great as the original show was. I spent my childhood watching this amazing show and I am way too excited to spend my adulthood watching it as well.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
