In 2012, two men by the names of John Sullivan and Dinesh D’Souza directed and released the movie "2016: Obama’s America." The plot of which was examining what horrors would befall the American public if Barack Obama were elected a second term as president. Whether you agree or disagree, you can’t deny that this is a fascinating premise. In fact, considering the most recent developments in the 2016 election, I can’t help but wonder what the world of 2020 would look like under the guidance of a certain controversial candidate. Donald Trump, as a presidential candidate, has all eyes on him in the most terrifying way. What would the world be like under the power of President Donald Trump? To me, there are plenty of Trump’s quotable moments out there that give us a pretty good idea. So, without further ado, here’s Trump’s year 2020, based on his own quotes.
You heard right, everyone. If Trump is good to his campaign announcement speech, we can expect the Great Wall of the United States sometime before 2020.
On employment: “I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created.”
That’s a tall order, Mr. Trump. Yes, we understand you have your own popular TV program about pursuing business ventures but are you sure that’ll be enough to combat the record high unemployment rates the United States has seen over the past few years? Yes? Well, if you say so.
On Sexual Assault and Gender Equality: “26,000 unreported sexual assults in the military-- only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?”
This is just one of Trump’s many offensive quotes about women and equal treatment and, boy, is it a doozie. Taken directly from his Twitter from 2013, it's hard to tell what’s worse, the message or the misspelling of “assaults.” Safe to say that come 2020, if there’s a Trump in office, there is likely no progress for gender equality and the fight against sexual assault on the horizon.
On Foreign Affairs: "Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on."
In the most recent of his outrageous claims, Trump calls for practically an overhaul of the constitutional right of freedom of religion in the United States. Thankfully, plenty of people in both parties have denounced this quotes, so, hopefully that indicates that if the unlikely president is elected, he won’t be able to follow through with this unconstitutional goal. Still, it’s still a truly disturbing claim to make, even for Trump. Religious minorities beware.
Overall, Trump is wrong, and fairly politically incorrect about almost everything. However, if he has ever been right about anything, it’s his faith in the American people: “Our country has tremendous potential. We have tremendous people.”
