To The Friends I Can't Thank Enough

An expression of gratitude for my college friends

To The Friends I Can't Thank Enough

College can be a scary place, but it's much more frightening if you don't have people in your life you can count on. I think it was nothing short of divine intervention when God put friends in my life whom I can depend on for literally any and everything. I, however, don't tell these friends nearly enough how much they are appreciated. So, gals, here are a few things you do that I'm thankful for. Know this: my appreciation for you is endless, but if I tried to put it all down on paper (or on Facebook) I would be writing for the next 10 years.

Thanks for not letting me starve in college. And thanks for not getting mad about all those times we got together to cook, and I brought paper plates or boxed pasta.

And speaking of food, thanks for never making me eat queso alone. Or anything else for that matter.

Thanks for showing me that staying in is every bit as much fun as going out. Fun doesn’t have to be alcohol induced. You taught me that Girls Nights In are everything.

Thank you for always agreeing to blast out my favorite song (you know the one I’m talking about).

Thanks for waking me up for church every Sunday.

Speaking of wake up calls, thanks for calling me to wake me up when I have something important to do the next day, even though you have to call me 10 times to do so.

Thank you for thinking that I am decently funny and for laughing politely with me when I’m not.

Thanks for making fun of me at times. You keep my ego in check but never take it too far.

Thanks for being my own personal fashion consultants. And thanks for letting me borrow your clothes all the time. Also for giving me your clothes because you know I need all the help I can get.

Thanks for the movie nights, even when I pick out movies that no one else wants to watch, such as "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas."

Thanks for letting me embarrass you in public and not getting that mad about it.

Thanks for being my fellow adventurers. No matter the trip, whether it be to the beach, the lake or the fair, you keep my life exciting.

Thanks for being the responsible ones when I'm not (pretty much all the time).

Thanks for assuring me of my self-worth, even when I can’t see it myself. You are my biggest cheerleaders and the best support system I could have asked for.

Thanks for those moments you stood for me when I couldn’t stand for myself and the times that you were strong when I couldn't be.

Thanks for teaching me the definition of friendship and, ultimately, how to be a friend.

In a place in our lives where change is inevitable, thank you for being constant.

Thanks for these memories that I will forever carry in my heart. These are the things that I will look back on when the place I'm in isn't as happy as the memories I have.

This will never do justice to my best girls, but I write this in hopes that you can see the difference y'all have made in my life. One day (a loooong time from now), you will stand next to me on my wedding day. You will be there for the birth of my kids. Though a time is coming when I won't live with or near y'all, I find myself thankful that friendship can overcome any distance. Our situations may change, but I promise you this: my love for you will not.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
