To the Friend Who Hasn't Heard "Thank You" Enough,

You are the one who always has a smile on their face, the one who always has their arms wide open when someone seeks comfort, the one who is willing to move mountains for the people they care about. You are bright and compassionate—a quality that is desired by many but attained by only a few. Everyone around you is naturally drawn to your kind spirit. So many people rely on you to get them through whatever challenges they may be facing.

As much as we appreciate all you do, we somehow seem to get caught up in our own issues and don't tell you what you mean to us. And even if we do remember to say thank you after a heart to heart, a laugh or a hug, it's really not enough.

So, thank you for...

Accepting me as I am.

No matter how much my mascara runs or how out of perspective my opinion is, you never blame me. Thank you for letting me share my twisted point of view free of criticism and judgement.

Being available 24/7.

Whether it's 1:00 a.m. on a Thursday night or 6:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning, you're always there. It still amazes me how many texts you've sent me saying "I'll be right over". Thanks for being close, no matter how far apart we physically are.

Making me laugh.

Your bright spirit and smile light up a room instantly, which I am forever grateful for. You know how to bring humor into any situation and make the toughest times a little more bearable. So, thank you for all of the uncontrollable belly laughs.

Speaking the truth.

All of my questionable decisions have been completely shut down because of you. Thank you for looking out for me and telling it like it is.

Being a good listener.

Sometimes I wonder how you put up with me. I can go on for hours complaining about everything under the sun, while you sit there patiently and nodding along. Thanks for hearing me out for the big things, and being so patient when I ramble on about the little things.

Loving me, always.

People worry when they don't see the two of us together. We are practically inseperable, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thousands of amazing, funny, and even horrific memories come to mind when I think of you. So thank you for being the most amazing friend, supporting me through it all, laughing through life with me, and loving me unconditionally.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
