What does a typical college student do between classes, while studying, before bed, and first thing in the morning? If you’re like me, you almost always have your face in your phone during these times, and you might even be checking one of these apps.
1. Instagram
We all love Instagram. It’s a quick way to see what your friends are up to, who their #mcm, #wcw or #tbts are, what food they’re eating, and whatever other artsy thing they could be doing. Whether it’s trying to reach 200 likes or trying to think of the most punny caption to make your friends laugh, a lot of college students put thought and time into their Insta posts.
2. SnapChat
With this new update, SnapChat has become pretty hilarious. You can look like a zombie or “throw up” a rainbow and it’s guaranteed to make your friends laugh. Plus, if you don’t know what’s going on on a Thursday night, scroll through your snap stories and I’m sure you’ll find something to do, since everyone is going to post about it in their stories.
3. Tilt
Let's face it, most of the stuff we do in college usually involves our friends (and it also usually involves money). That's where Tilt comes in, making it super easy to collect money from a group for FREE. No one likes to be the one fronting all the money and hassling friends to pay them back, so Tilt helps you collect money upfront and allows everyone to see who's chipped in. All you need is a valid bank account and an excuse to do something awesome with your friends! This app has grown 186 percent in iPhone downloads since August 1st and has been used by over 500,000 groups around the country and world.
4. Thread
Thread is the PERFECT personal safety app for college campuses. In stressful situations, where there isn’t a lot of time to spare, Thread provides a connection between a user’s location, trusted contacts, and emergency services. Find yourself alone in a sticky situation? You’ll want this app!
5. Mint
Trying to budget in college and not really succeeding? Mint is the perfect app for you. This all-in-one app will help you budget, pay your bills, check your credit, and more! The best part? It’s personalized for you. It’s simple, secure, and will help you with that budgeting problem.
6. Wake
Having trouble waking up for that 8 a.m.? (or 10 a.m., or 12 p.m.?) Wake will wake you up your way! You slap to snooze, flip your phone over to turn off alarm, or you shake to wake. No more missing those boring lectures from oversleeping.
