It was like Christmas morning on January 27 when the Faster Horses line-up was released. The excitement I felt when I saw the line-up was similar to that of a 7-year-old running downstairs and seeing the presents under the tree...but more so. My anticipation for the Party of the Summer is sky high. I'm redneck ready for what they call the Three Day Hillbilly Sleepover.
In case you live under a rock, here's who is scheduled to play on the main stage: Jason Aldean, Lady Antebellum and Eric Church, Sam Hunt, Big & Rich, A Thousand Horses, Gary Allan, David Nail, Joe Nichols, Locash, Travis Tritt, Jon Pardi and Granger Smith feat. Earl Dibbles Jr.
If you fainted, it's OK, I did, too.
I need to let out an scream of pure joy and excitement, feel free to join me: AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Is it July 15 yet???
This will be the fourth summer of Faster Horses and it will no doubt attract even more people than in the past years, as each summer brings in more and more people. Brooklyn, MI will be packed with rednecks and sunburned country-lovers. Michigan International Speedway will be loaded with cowboy hats and boots, bandanas, flannel galore, camouflage everything, John Deere logos--the whole shebang. Rain or shine, the country music will not stop. Well, except for last summer when there was a tornado warning on the second day; but, even then, Brad Paisley came on stage hours later to give everyone a good show—FH didn't let a little severe weather ruin the fun. You know the saying, "everything's bigger in Texas?" It should be changed to, "everything's bigger at Faster Horses."
Here are 12 signs that you are way too excited for the Party of the Summer (but, it's OK, join the club):
1. You've already contacted your friends to make plans for something that's happening in July...6 months away.
2. Every Throwback Thursday you post a picture from Faster Horses (or think about it before deciding not to because your last four #tbts have been from FH) with a caption about wanting summer ASAP and missing FH.
3. You consider the weekend(s) you spent at MIS one of the best weekends of your life.
4. Your bank account is screaming no when you reach for the $200 to buy your ticket, but you are screaming yes, yes, yes.
5. You've already started planning your outfits (for you girls out there)—crop tops and high-waisted shorts are mandatory.
6. Let's be honest, you've probably already been thinking of ways to sneak your alcohol into the festival so your wallet won't cry when you pay for overpriced beer and liquor.
7. Every penny you make from now to July 15 will be stored in your FHS—Faster Horses Savings. Nothing else matters. You'll deny yourself coffee and food and that 50 percent off sale at your favorite store because FH matters that much to you.
8. You've already started your countdown of 100+ days to FH. In case you haven't begun your countdown yet, there's one on the Faster Horses website that counts it down to the second. This is serious, people.
9. You are on a mission to increase your tolerance between now and July.
10. The nonstop country music playing starts now (as if it ever stopped, am I right?).
11. You get nostalgic when you hear Carrie Underwood or Florida Georgia Line (or anyone from past line-ups) on the radio because it's not the same as actually being there.
12. You can't help gushing over how absolutely amazing it was in like, every way.
This 3-day country music festival cannot come soon enough. Faster Horses 2016, I'm coming for ya. Here's to the good times.
