Each year of college has it’s own special traditions. Freshman year is reserved for being extra sloppy and trying everything once, where as senior year is for yolo-ing during your last year of the glory days.
In the end, pretty much every year is devoted to living it up. If there’s one college tradition that is the epitome of living it up, it’s Spring Break. Not only is Spring Break a time to relax and reflect on our studies, it’s also the perfect excuse for a week-long rager in the sun. The tradition of Spring Break has stood the test of time and each year is a new adventure.
Freshman Year
Freshman year is a time of discovery and stress. You still miss your friends from home, but you also want to have a lot fun. While there may be a few adventurous freshmen who attend PCB or the Keys, a majority of you freshmen will instead retire home for the week. The break from school is just what you needed, and the couple house parties throughout the week will make you appreciate college much more when you return. There will be reunions at pool parties or house parties, and there may even be a fun beach bash to attend. This typical, freshman spring break is the perfect way to kick off this age old college tradition.
Sophomore Year
Sophomore year is a little trickier. Most students want to do something really fun without having to worry about being 21. The beach and alcohol are musts, but the best places to go can be strict. Panama City Beach can get pretty sketchy, so you and your friends brainstorm which hometown is best to stay at. These plans will fizzle and die before break actually hits for most of you, and you’ll be spending break at home already thinking about what you’ll do next year. The rare few of you who actually have their stuff together will plan a great getaway to a friends beach house and have a nice, relaxing, beach side break.
Junior Year
You’re finally 21 (well most of you) and this spring break is bound to be the best yet. After a dull break last year, you and friends probably started planning this trip months in advance. Whether you’ve decided on a cruise, a week long stay in the Keys, or even a weekend trip to the Bahamas, you’re ready for that cliche spring break you’ve seen on TV. This break will probably end up being the craziest seeing as everyone is still freshly legal. Chances are, the stories you’ll have from blackout nights will entertain (haunt?) you for the rest of your life.
Senior Year
With graduation less than 2 months away, seniors tend to spend spring break one of two ways. The more responsible type will be headed out to big cities for their dream job interviews. The other half of you will be straight raging in any choice location. However recreating last year’s spring break will be short lived after realizing you have to be somewhat responsible, and all of a sudden have morals. The jobs you want will not take kindly to Girls Gone Wild or Spring Breakers type actions. But that won’t stop you from drinking away your sorrows on a hot beach and drowning your future plans with pina coladas...lots and lots of pina coladas.
