The second year of college is coming to a close, and there are many mixed emotions involved.
First, this marks the halfway mark of college. Have I really been here for two years already? Do I really only have two years left? Then there comes the anxiety of growing up, and no one wants to deal with that. Can I just stay in college forever?
Then there’s the fact that at Wake Forest, in particular, a lot of people study abroad in the fall semester of their junior year, which means a lot of goodbyes right now. It’s exciting because who doesn’t want to go on a European adventure? But at the same time I know I’m going to miss all of my people who won’t be here in the fall.
"Last week of school" also equates to finals, which are pretty much the bane of every college student’s existence. I can see summer in the distance, but I have to get through a week of writing papers and taking tests on things I don’t remember and no one wants that.
The last week of school also means an extremely low supply of food dollars. This leads to hanger, and that's just not good for anyone.
Then there’s the issue of what we are supposed to do in the summer… Do you have a job lined up? An internship? Study abroad? So many things to figure out in so little time. It’s fine though, because at the end of the day it will all work out, as it should…
Then there are the goodbyes, which I already briefly touched on. Even though not everyone is studying abroad, you’re still leaving for three months, and that’s a long time to be away from friends. A lot can happen in that time, so say those goodbyes and then peace out for summer! "You're gonna miss me, right?!"
Moving out. This is my least favorite part of the end of the school year because it is so chaotic. Gathering up a year’s worth of crap and trying to fit it in your car for the eight-hour car ride that awaits you is just peachy. No need for help though, I got this... really.
But then you’re free! It’s summer, and life is good. Soak up some sun and vitamin C-- it’s good for you.
