The Definitive Ranking Of Christmas Movies

The holiday season has finally arrived, everyone. We've crossed the threshold of Thanksgiving, and it is now completely acceptable to request Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" at every bar. It's finally time to bust out your ugly sweaters and for your mom to attend cookie swap parties (#blessed). It's also time to sit on the couch with your favorite holiday movies— some of which are (sorry, not sorry) more worthy than others.

Here's the list, naughty and nice.

10. "Eloise at Christmastime": 7/10

Eloise. The Plaza. New York at Christmas. A star-crossed romance between a society girl and a waiter/pianist. Julie Andrews. What more could you want?

9. "I'll Be Home for Christmas": 7/10

This movie will make you laugh, cry, then laugh again. I don't know anyone who didn't have a crush on young Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and he's at his cutest in this movie. The part with the little boy in the hospital gets. Me. Every. Time.

8. "Elf": 8/10

Quickly becoming a classic, "Elf" is full of timeless Will Ferrell moments, namely the fact that he spends 90 percent of the movie in yellow tights. The jokes are great, the mailroom dance sequence is Tony-worthy, and Zooey Deschanel looks great as a blonde.

7. "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas": 8.5/10

Oh, this movie. Jim Carrey is at his all-time best, presenting a hilarious Grinch that shows just the right amount of heart. The awkward teenagers at the beginning are the perfect opening, and we get to see Taylor Momsen in her prime (side-eye to Jenny Humphrey).

6. "A Christmas Story": 9/10

Ah, the classic of classics. We can all see ourselves in Ralphie, a kid just trying to get through the holidays without terrible presents from relatives and the cool gift from Santa. And let's be real, the leg lamp makes the entire movie.

5. "Home Alone": 9/10

Kevin McAllister. The kid we all kind of aspired to be -- left home alone to order pizzas and eat ice cream for breakfast, to go to the grocery store alone, and devise a series of brilliant booby traps to foil two burglars. This movie rocks, and will always rock.

4. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer": 8/10

You can't have Christmas without Rudolph. The little red-nosed reindeer brought us all through our childhood woes of being a little different and made us all think that the tail lights from cars outside the window were Rudolph heading our way on Christmas Eve.

3. "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town": 8/10

Another classic coming in strong. This movie made me want a pet penguin and totally understand how Santa Claus got his start. Plus, Fred Astaire narrates. How classic can you be?

2. "The Polar Express": 9/10

This movie is a beautiful creation of Christmas, to be honest. The animation is incredible, the story is enhanced in the best way, and there's a killer song about hot chocolate. You really can't get much better than that.

1. "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation": 10/10

I admit, I may be biased here, but my family watches this on Christmas Eve every year, and we die every time. It's funny, relatable, and surprisingly heartfelt at times. Plus, there's the cinematic masterpiece of:

So there it is. The list of some of the finest holiday movies ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas (and friends) has to offer.

Happy couching, everyone!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
